Bangkok--Sep 28--DHL Worldwide Express
DHL Worldwide Express, the first air express service provider in Asia, is making a challenging move to fill a niche market of the urgentmost air express delivery in Southeast Asia with the launch of the “Same Day Intra-Asean Service.”
The service guarantees that both inbound and outbound packages, regardless of size and weight, when picked up in the morning will be delivered complete, safe and sound within the same day.
The Same Day Intra-Asean Service is DHL s latest custom-made service to help facilitate import and export operations in Asian countries. Initially, the service range covers Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand and is concurrently effective from September 1, 1998, in four major ASEAN cities: Singapore, Kuala Lumpar, Jakarta and Bangkok.
“This Same Day initiative is an exclusive regional network service that helps promote an easier, faster, more efficient operational procedure for the business sector in Southeast Asia,” says Mr Tony Sloan, general manager of DHL International (Thailand) Ltd.
“Under the present economic situation the ASEAN business sector has to improve product and service quality with a smaller budget,”says Mr Sloan. “The Same Day service fits right in with this demand and with the regional trade among the ASEAN countries, where the Just In Time system (JIT) is now helping to save logistics, storage and related costs.”
DHL believes the Same Day service is an important initiative in challenging the market with fresh techniques to increase DHL s service range, and in responding to the specific needs, both inbound and outbound, of various target groups in the Asian countries. The service is, therefore, a strategic device to expand DHL sales channels in Asia while the earlier launched Overnight First service, which currently covers 24 major international cities, is to do so globally.
Further, DHL increases flexibility, rapidity and convenience to air express delivery by offering other compatible services such as 24-hour pickups and credit and charge card service via telephone.
The value of time is the fundamental concept of all DHL express services in the present, competitive economy because time is money and every second counts for those who strive for success in the business world.
DHL Worldwide Express is the world s leading air express service, linking more than 85,000 destinations in 227 countries and territories. DHL has a fleet of over 200 aircraft worldwide.
