Bangkok--10 Aug--Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
Refreshingly different, BarSu’s wine tastings are the perfect blend of fine wines, exquisite light bites and good company, all enjoyed in chic surroundings.
On Thursday August 18, 2011, BarSu and the BB&B wine company invite you to chill-out in style as elegant bartenders uncork a selection of distinctly modern Fairview Wines from South Africa, each complimented by creative selection of delicious wapas.
Fairview is a third generation, family-owned wine and cheese farm on the south-west-facing slopes of Paarl Mountain, a granite outcrop in the heart of Western Cape’s renowned Paarl wine district. Winemaking on the Fairview estate can be traced back to 1693. The wines entered the modern era with the first bottling under the Fairview label in 1974 by the Back family, owners since 1937. Today, some three decades later, grandson Charles Back II has brought Fairview’s award-winning wines to the world. One of South Africa's pre-eminent vintners, he has earned Fairview a reputation for quality and innovation.
Wine lovers at BarSu will be welcomed with a glass of Chamdeville Pinot Noir Rose NV, a lively blush-pink sparkling aperitif to set the mood for the evening.
The first of five wines served with the enticing cuisine will be the light hearted white, Goats Do Roam, 2008. Intense aromas of soft pear and lychee are balanced by fruit-driven freshness and it is the perfect match for vichyssoise espuma with lightly smoked snoek fish.
The second wine of the evening, La Capra by Fairview Chenin Blanc, 2010, delivers layers of apple and pear with a hint of oak influence. Guests will enjoy the wine with white tuna ‘peri-peri’.
The first red, La Capra by Fairview Pinotage, 2010 is matched with bobotie South African beef and baked egg cocotte. An increasingly popular red grape variety from South Africa, here the Pinotage entices with a perfume of plums leading to ripe berries on the palate and a hint of spice on the finish.
Next, the medium bodied Goats Do Roam, 2008, is served with slow roasted springbok loin with onion marmalade, followed by the evening’s last wine, the soft and approachable La Capra by Fairview Shiraz, 2010, accompanied by a truffle flavoured guanaja chocolate with shiraz reduction.
Five distinctive South African wines and BarSu’s creative wapas dishes are only Baht 990.
Join us for an evening of enticing food and wine from 19:30 — 21:30 hrs on Thursday, August 18, 2011.
