BANGKOK PREP CELEBRATES NEW A MILESTONE OF EXCELLENCEWITH ACCREDITATIONS AND AUTHORISATIONS FROM FOUR HIGHLY RECOGNIZED ORGANISATIONS
A new benchmark set as the first international school in Thailand to gain accreditation from four worldwide renowned organizations all in one year
Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School (Bangkok Prep), one of the youngest, yet well-established international schools in Thailand, today celebrated a remarkable achievement of excellence with accreditation and authorizations from four highly recognised organisations. The rare achievement underlines not only its academic excellence but also international-standard school management and operations as well as social contribution in various areas.
The school received accreditations and authorizations from the Council of International Schools (CIS), Federation of British International Schools in South East Asia and East Asia (FOBISSEA), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA).
Mr. Keith B. Wecker, Headmaster of Bangkok Prep said, “Being accredited by a leading international accreditation organisation is already a success but gaining four significant authorizations and accreditations in one year is a truly rare achievement. This also proves that we have successfully accomplished a significant milestone and are ready to accelerate towards being the best mid-sized international school in Thailand.
“The key to this rare achievement is our commitment to providing an education where students can prepare for life and realise their full potential through a stimulating and challenging international learning community. We are aspired to an appreciation of cultural diversity and a willingness to embrace social and personal responsibility, the school is committed to nurturing learning experience for our pupils.”
Mr. Wecker added that in gaining the four significant authorizations, Bangkok Prep has matured into an institution which has clearly demonstrated to its parents, students and staff that they can feel pride in belonging to such a progressive and mission driven international school. To achieve these four significant milestones, the schools extensive 18 month self-study process reviewing all aspects of its curriculum, management, resources, health & safety, campus, governance, finance and buildings to ensure they all met the individual requirement and criteria of each of the inspections agencies. Additionally, the school was visited by external validators for up to a 5 day rigorous verification and personal interviews with all stakeholder representatives. The subsequent comprehensive written reports contained numerous commendations on the program and attainment levels of the school since its inception.
Established in 2003, Bangkok Prep is a private co-education international school. It offers education programme based on the National Curriculum of England, offering a quality education to pupils from Nursery up to Year 13. Bangkok Prep also offers a rigorous ‘IGCSE’ programme to Year 10 and 11 students as a precursor to the Cambridge-approved ‘A’ Levels available to study in Years 12 and 13, thus preparing students towards University education. This year, three Bangkok Prep students have achieved top scores at IGCSE, a clear proof of the school’s academic excellence.
In addition to academic distinction, social responsibility is another area of focus at Bangkok Prep. To instill responsible citizenship awareness and practice among its students, the school inspires its students to initiate and participate in various social contribution projects. For example, Year 11 and 12 students’ trip to Angkhang Nature Resort in Chiang Mai where students got their hands dirty in some community service work and teaching children there, and Year 12 students donating money raised from their charity work to plant trees in the mangrove area in Bangpu and also Banyan Tree Project that is designed to enlighten the school members on both environmental and community needs.
Its fully qualified teaching team, promotion of diversity, warm, supportive and caring environment as well as closely-knitted relations with parents and friends of Bangkok Prep community have all contributed to its reputation and success.
Ms. Margaret Alvarez, Associate Director of Accreditation, CIS Regional Manager, “I wish to congratulate Bangkok Prep for the accreditation achievement. Bangkok Prep has clearly demonstrated its commitment and ability to infuse international and intercultural perspective into its programmes. With practical and quality curriculum and teaching arrangement, its students are ready to move forward with the attitudes and understanding that will provide them with a solid base wherever their studies or work may take them. Bangkok Prep is really producing the new generation of global citizens.”
Ms. Usa Somboon, President of International School Associations of Thailand and the representative from ONESQA' said, “It has been my pleasure to witness and observe the growth and success of Bangkok Prep over these past 8 years. I have to commend and congratulate Bangkok Prep and the Thai teachers for offering and managing a quality programme at the school and successfully achieving the requirements of Quality Assurance, including the QNESQA’s requirement of Thai language and culture which has been effectively implemented in its school.”
In 2009-10, the school received the prestigious The Prime Minister's Export Award 2009 in International Education and the award for “Outstanding Achievement in School Development and Management” at the World Education/Education Living Expo 2010.
