Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) held a Board of Directors’ Meeting chaired by Mr. Ampon Kittiampon, THAI Chairman, at THAI Head Office with the following announcements.
1. Operating Results for August 2011
The THAI Board of Directors acknowledged the operating results for August 2011 as follows:
Available Seat-Kilometer (ASK) for August 2011 was 4.5% higher than in August 2010. Revenue Passenger-Kilometer (RPK) for August 2011 was 4.7% higher than in August 2010. Cabin Factor for August 2011 averaged at 74.6% which was 0.3% higher than in August 2010.
For period from January to August 2011, Available Seat-Kilometer (ASK) was 4.8% higher than the same period the previous year. Revenue Passenger-Kilometer (RPK) was 3.2% higher than the same period in 2010. Cabin Factor averaged at 72.5%.
Available Dead Load Ton-Kilometers (ADTK) for August 2011 was 1.5% higher than the same month the previous year. Revenue Freight Ton-Kilometers (RFTK) for August 2011 was 8.7% lower than the same month the previous year. Freight Load Factor for August 2011 averaged at 54.2%, which was 10.4% lower than the same month the previous year.
For the period from January to August 2011, Available Dead Load Ton-Kilometers (ADTK) was 9.4% higher than the same period 2010. Revenue Freight Ton-Kilometers (RFTK) was 0.1% higher than the same period in 2010. Freight Load Factor averaged at 56.6%, which was 8.6% lower than the same period in 2010.
2. Selection of Financial Institutions Providing Long-term Loan for 3 Airbus A330-300 Aircraft
The THAI Board of Directors approved the selection of financial institutions for the long-term loan (in EUR currency) for the three Airbus A330-300 Aircraft (out of seven in the aircraft acquisition plan of 2010-2014) under the operating lease method. For the two A330-300 aircraft with delivery in November and December 2011, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Limited (BTMU) will provide the long-term loan. For the A330-300 aircraft with delivery in February 2012, BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking (BNP), Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) and Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ) will provide the long-term loan.
3. Approval for DNATA to support THAI Cargo & Mail Commercial IT System
THAI’s Board of Directors approved THAI Cargo & Mail Commercial Department to purchase a new cargo management system from DNATA Company to help further develop THAI cargo services standard and be more competitive in the cargo market. The new system uses the latest technologies giving better access to all sales channels, faster service in cargo space reservation and real-time shipment tracking system for every piece of cargo.
The system manages space allocation of different types of cargo on board and on the ground, which in turn helps THAI Cargo to better manage its inventory, locate cargo easily, and better accounting management.
This new system includes Cargo Space Management System, Revenue Management, Warehouse Management, Sales and Marketing Operations, Cargo Equipment Management and Accounting Management. The service provided by DNATA is on an eight-year contractual basis.
4. Management Appointments
THAI’s Board of Directors approved the appointment below, effective from 1 October 2011.
4.1 Squadron Leader Alongot Pullsuk, Vice President, Operations Support Department, as Vice President of Aviation Resources Development Department
4.2 Lieutenant Athisak Padchuenjai, Vice President, Aviation Resources Development Department, as Vice President of Flight Operations Department
4.3 Squadron Leader Wiroj Jutagasut, Vice President, Flight Operations Department, as Vice President of Operations Support Department
