Bangkok--29 Sep--The Peninsula Hotels
The Peninsula Hotels introduces new breast cancer initiatives around the world, and The Peninsula Bangkok teams up with The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer
As part of its continuing “Enriching Your Life” campaign, The Peninsula Hotels in Asia and North America are showing their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October with “Peninsula in Pink” — a new groupwide campaign to raise both awareness and funds, with signature pink-themed promotions including afternoon teas and a specially designed pink ribbon pin, with a percentage of the proceeds going directly to breast cancer-related charities in each destination.
Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world today, accounting for one in 10 of all new cancers diagnosed worldwide and nearly one in four female cancer sufferers. The most common cancer in women in both developed and developing areas, it is the principal cause of death among women globally. Though far less common than in women, it is also possible for men to develop breast cancer, accounting for approximately 1% of all breast cancer cases.
With these grim statistics in mind, The Peninsula Hotels are harnessing their resources with “Peninsula in Pink” initiatives at all hotels, with each Peninsula hotel partnering with a local breast cancer organisation in their respective destination for fund- and awareness-raising. The Peninsula Bangkok will be supporting The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer.
A signature attraction across all hotels will be the “Peninsula in Pink” Afternoon Tea. Through the years, the Peninsula Afternoon Tea has become a hallmark feature of every Peninsula hotel around the world, and so each hotel has created a pink-themed tea for the month of October, offering a selection of pink-hued cakes and pastries in addition to scones, clotted cream and preserves. The Peninsula Bangkok’s “Peninsula in Pink” Afternoon Tea will be served daily in the Lobby from 2:00 pm — 6:00 pm at THB 880 per set, with a donation of THB 120 made to The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer for every “Peninsula in Pink” Afternoon Tea sold.
An exclusive “Peninsula in Pink” pink ribbon pin has been designed to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Worn by every staff member at The Peninsula Bangkok throughout the month, pins are also available for sale at THB 150, with a donation of THB 120 made for each pin sold.
The Peninsula Bangkok’s bartenders have created a special pink-hued cocktail named “Pretty in Pink”. Consisting of White Bacardi, Lychee Liquor, Lychee in syrup, fresh lime juice and Grenadine Syrup, it will be served at The Lobby, The Bar and The River Bar at THB 290 per glass, with a donation of THB 120 made for each cocktail sold.
In addition, The Peninsula Bangkok is delighted to announce the debut of its exclusive ‘Peninsula Pink Ceremony’ at The Peninsula Spa by ESPA, in aid of breast cancer awareness. This outstanding treatment has been especially designed by ESPA, inspired by their most popular hero product - ESPA Pink Mud.
Unique to The Peninsula, this uplifting ceremony begins with a refreshing tea served with a special Peninsula Pink Macaroon. A deeply conditioning exfoliating salt massage begins the body work after which, a deeply moisturising body masque of ESPA Pink Mud is applied to nourish and condition the skin. Warmed fragrant oils are personally selected for each guest and applied with graceful and elegant massage techniques to uplift the mind and soothe the body. An ESPA Express Facial brightens the skin and to conclude this experience an awakening head massage conditions the scalp and clears the mind. This two hour treatment is priced at THB 4,400 per person.
One of ESPA’s top-selling products is their Pink Hair and Scalp Mud, and so this was a natural choice for a fundraising treatment, with each Peninsula Pink Ceremony garnering a donation of THB 120.
Other initiatives at The Peninsula Bangkok in October will be the use of pink flowers and pink candles throughout the hotel, while the two sandstone lions at the main entrance to the lobby will be lit up in pink.
