Rossini’s award-winning Italian restaurant at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, together with BB&B Company Ltd., will host an exceptional Gerard Bertrand Wine Dinner on Friday October 28, 2011.
Founded in 1992 by former French rugby captain, Gerard Bertrand Wines quickly established a reputation for excellence. A passionate oenophile, Gerard brought together the best winemakers of the Languedoc to give a new dimension to Old World wines. With over 600 hectares of vineyards under cultivation on the best Languedoc-Roussillon terroir, Gerard Bertrand and his dedicated team lovingly craft signature varietal wines that enjoy international acclaim and have garnered numerous awards.
Central to his winemaking philosophy is respect for the environment, sustainable agriculture, limited yields, manual harvesting, and the traditional art of blending and maturing to create expressive wines that are distinctly, Gerard Bertrand.
Seated in the enchanting Tuscan villa setting of Rossini’s, discerning diners will savor an outstanding range of Gerard’s well-balanced and elegant wines paired with Chef Stefano Merlo’s exquisite Italian cuisine.
The memorable evening will begin with Chef Stefano’s delicious stuzzichini savory bites and a welcome glass of Gerard Bertrand Reserve Speciale Muscat Sec 2009, a delightful aperitif with expressive fruit and floral aromas.
The first of five-courses will be fegato grasso ai fichi, foie gras and figs paired with Gerard Bertrand Reserve Speciale Muscat Moelleux 2009, an exceptionally fruity semi-sweet wine with an intense honey aroma.
The second dish, baccal? cotto in foglia di pomodoro zafferano e agrumi, salt cod wrapped in tomato leaves, saffron and citrus will be served with Gerard Bertrand Reserve Speciale Viognier 2009, a flavorsome medium-full bodied wine made with 100 percent Viognier grapes resulting in aromas of peach, grapefruit and spring flowers and a long, concentrated finish. Diners will also enjoy ravioli alla Matriciana, ravioli Matriciana style accompanied by Gerard Bertrand Natural Merlot 2009. This distinctly modern French wine is part of Gerard’s range of eco-friendly certified organic wines.
Chef Stefano’s autumnal game dish of piccione al tartufo, radicchi di campo e mostarda di pere, roast pigeon with truffles, radicchio and pear “mostarda” will be served with Gerard Bertrand Reserve Speciale Syrah Vin de Pays d’Oc 2008, a Bronze Medal winner at the ‘Decanter World Wine Awards 2009’ and Gold Medal winner at ‘Syrah du Monde 2009’. The unforgettable evening of gourmet cuisine and fine wines ends with zuccotto, a traditional Florentine semi-frozen cake paired with Gerard Bertrand Reserve Speciale Muscat Moelleux 2009, followed by coffee or tea and biscotti.
