To support the Thailand’s flood recovery effort, Western Digital Corporation (WD) today presented a 10 million Baht donation to the Thai Red Cross Society to help the Thai people rebuild their lives and restore their communities.
The torrential flooding in Thailand in October has claimed hundreds of lives, displaced hundreds of thousands of residents and directly and profoundly impacted thousands of businesses. WD, through the WD Foundation, the WD Caring Foundation (Thailand) and WD Caring Foundation (Malaysia) is making significant contributions and matching donations by its employees from around the world on a one-to-one basis to support the recovery effort. WD has identified the Thai Red Cross Society as the most effective means of distributing aid where it’s most needed to help and relieve the flood victims.
WD manufactures approximately 60 percent of its hard drives in Thailand. In mid-October, WD has suspended production at the two factories located in Navanakorn and Bang Pa-In Industrial Estates, which have been inundated by floodwater, to protect its employees, equipment and facilities. The company’s other facilities in Malaysia, Singapore and the U.S. are fully operational.
