Through its Office of Corporate Philanthropy, Merck (known as MSD outside the United States and Canada) has provided a grant of 750,000 Bath to the American Red Cross to aid flood relief efforts in Thailand, as part of the Red Cross's disaster management program in the country.
The grant will assist the Red Cross in various efforts, including distribution of food and water, supplies, shelter kits, and basic medical assistance. It will also support water, sanitation and hygiene promotion efforts, and build capacity for the Red Cross and local organizations to implement better disaster preparedness and response mechanisms and systems.

Here in Thailand, we've responded to the disaster at our doorsteps with a combination of financial support and employee volunteerism."
In addition today's grant, employees of MSD has been coordinating donation efforts, since the floods began, to support Thammasrt Rangsit relief center.
In the aftermath of the floods, MSD organized an employee volunteer program to help rebuild Pranakornsri Ayuthaya hospital. MSD also established an emergency relief fund to support its employees with temporary housing, emergency loans and repairs.
