Qualcomm made a number of exciting announcements at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012

Bangkok--28 Mar--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Qualcomm announced the launch of the Snapdragon S4 Pro processor: The Snapdragon S4 is a Pro version of the Snapdragon? S4 MSM8960 processor which enables even more capable mobile computing devices. Currently, over 120 designs are in development using Snapdragon S4 processors. The S4 Pro processor features the Adreno 320 GPU, a high performance programmable GPU?with up to a four times performance improvement?providing a superior user experience for Web browsing, games, user interfaces and other graphics applications. The Adreno 320 infuses the S4 Pro version with new multimedia capabilities, including computational camera and more realistic 3D graphic effects. Adreno 320 also includes dedicated hardware to accelerate Windows and fully supports the top game engines in the industry from Unity, Epic and others. The S4 Pro processors are expected to come to market in the second half of 2012. Qualcomm delivered the first ever demonstration of a live LTE video broadcast at its event stand: Through this innovative and emerging technology, Qualcomm enables operators to deploy and scale commercial-grade eMBMS with leading infrastructure vendors such as Ericsson. It also has the potential to significantly reduce operators? costs by allowing them to optimize content and software distribution using broadcast principles over LTE networks. Qualcomm also announced a collaborative project with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women: Qualcomm, through its Wireless Reach? initiative, announced a collaborative project with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and the Foundation for Women?s Education and Training to support women entrepreneurs in Malaysia. The project aims to enhance women?s skills and knowledge in the areas of business and technology by leveraging the Mentoring Women in Business Program developed by Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, which combines mentoring with technology to offer cross-border support to unlock the potential of women entrepreneurs. Using 3G-enabled smartphones and laptops to connect and engage with a community of skilled business professionals and entrepreneurs from around the world, this e-mentoring project provides women from underserved areas with access to technology training and a platform to network and share information with other like-minded entrepreneurs. In addition, a number of Snapdragon-powered devices were launched by our partners at MWC this year, including: - Panasonic ELUGA: an ultra-slim, high specification waterproof smartphone featuring an integrated Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor; - ASUS Padfone: a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4-powered stylus, which also acts as a headset. During the product demo, ASUS CEO Jonney Shih received a call from Paul Jacobs, Chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, using the device; - HTC One S and 4G LTE One X: two Snapdragon S4-powered devices in the HTC One series of smartphones that represent its most premium mobile experience; - Nokia Lumia 610 and 900: described as the perfect introduction to Windows Phone for a younger audience. The launch of these devices adds to the impressive list of mobile devices already powered by the Snapdragon platform of mobile processors. Currently, over 340 Snapdragon devices have been announced with over 400 Snapdragon designs in development ? which includes 35 tablets.
