IBM grabs Market Leadership in ASEAN Server market for Revenue in Q4 2011

Bangkok--3 Apr--IBM IBM in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Philippines ranked #1 in overall server revenue share, for Q4 2011 IBM today in Thailand announced a sustained leadership momentum within the Server market in ASEAN, grabbing revenue market share leadership from incumbent, HP, according to leading IT market research and advisory firm, IDC. As reported in IDC’s Asia/Pacific Quarterly Server Tracker 4Q 2011, IBM wrested control of the leading position in the overall ASEAN server market in terms of market revenue, with a 40% market share, a strong 9 points higher than second-placed HP. IBM’s sustained achievement was a result of the deep market acceptance and preference for the IBM Power Systems? and System z servers. In Thailand, IBM reclaimed the number one server vendor position, in terms of overall server revenue market share with a 52.1 percent share, gaining a forceful 29.6 points of share higher than the next closest competitor for Q4 2011. IBM also reclaimed the number one position in terms of market share in Thailand in Q4 2011 for the segments of : - High-end Enterprise ($250k+ servers) segment with 79.8% revenue share (a substantial 59.6 points higher than the next closest competitor) - RISC/EPIC servers segment with 49.6% revenue share (a hardy 18.1 points higher than the next closest competitor) - Nonx86 Unix server revenue share at 64% (a convinving 39.7 points higher than the next closest competitor) - Linux server revenue share at 36.2 percent (a steady 7.9 points higher than the next closest competitor) Our continued momentum is being powered by our investments in differentiated systems and leadership technology.
