Collaboration Promotes Greater Visibility of Evolving Threat Landscape in Thailand
Symantec today signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization) or ETDA which is responsible for Thailand Computer Emergency Response Team or (ThaiCERT) to enhance Thailand’s capabilities in tackling Internet-borne malicious threats and provide a safer online environment for Thai citizens. Symantec will assist ETDA in managing cyber threats by establishing and operating a digital threat monitoring system that includes the provision of Symantec’s tools to monitor and analyze threats within the network.
The MoC will also enable ETDA to leverage Symantec’s Attack Quarantine System (AQS) Program, an automated honeypot network designed to gather intelligence on Internet threat data. Symantec will provide ETDA with weekly reports indicating the amount of malwares detected; their threat profiles and recommend solutions to remove those threats.

Commenting on the partnership, Ilias Chantzos, Senior Director for Government Affairs in EMEA and Asia Pacific and Japan, Symantec Corporation said, “We have observed a dramatic increase in the number of cyber attacks around the world. Symantec’s knowledge on the growing sophistication and impact of these threats would support the objectives of Thailand’s e-Transaction, as ETDA seeks to better understand their online threat landscape and protect Thailand’s networks. This partnership will facilitate an increased understanding of cybersecurity risks and how they can be reduced, helping to protect Internet users and Thailand’s online environment.”
Further bolstering the partnership through information exchange and sharing of best practices, Symantec will be participating in ETDA’s activities to deliver customer education and outreach activities within the country.
