Bangkok--4 May--Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok proudly announces the joint partnership in "The Thai - German Culinary Gala", the culinary event celebrating the 150th anniversary of Thai - German diplomatic relations which will take place on June the 7th, 2012. Thailand and Germany established diplomatic relations on 7 February 1862 with the signing of the Treaty of Amity, Commerce, and Navigation. 150 years later, the long-standing affiliation still remains cordial and is celebrated with several events organized throughout the year 2012. “Thailand and Germany look back on 150 years of fruitful and friendly relations. The fields of interest cover politics, economics, science and culture, for sure there is also a great interest in the culinary traditions of the partner country”. said Ambassador Schulze. Due to the Kempinski's origin from Berlin and the long association as a venue of choice to welcome head of states and diplomats, Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok has confirmed to participate in the commemoration. "It is truly an honour for Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok to be part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Thai - German relations," said Mr. Holger Schroth, General Manager of Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. This time, the partnership between the two establishments will uniquely celebrate the occasion through the art of cooking. "The Thai - German Culinary Gala" is the official name of this amazing event where 2 celebrity chefs from Thailand and Germany perform a spectacular culinary show, whipping up delectable dishes inspired by both cultures. On top of the feast for the eyes, the guests will have the opportunity to sample these very same masterpieces through the six-course dinner served that evening. ML Sirichalerm Svasti or Chef McDang is Thailand’s most famous food expert and a respected ambassador for Thai cuisine. He is a TV personality, a writer, and a lecturer on the topic of Thai cookery. Chef McDang will represent Thailand and will cook an appetizer, a soup, a main course adopting traditional Thai recipes. On the other hand, a German soccer manager, food enthusiast, and TV personality, Reiner Calmund, will recreate renowned German classics.
