Introduces A World of Connectivity — Offering Immersive, Quality Entertainment
Across Screen Sizes and Devices.
Sony is delivering a new dimension of integrated entertainment and communication, giving consumers the ease and flexibility to share content across different platforms. At its Press and Dealer Conference 2012, Sony also announced its latest ‘One Sony’ strategy, highlighting the company’s strengths in innovative technologies designed to elevate consumers’ entertainment experiences by allowing them to enjoy content and unique applications across various screen sizes and devices while at home or on the go. In addition, the company plans to unite the strength of its group of companies within Thailand to strengthen business efficiency and to increase business competitiveness. Sony Thai also announced that it will take over Sony Mobile Communications (formerly known as Sony Ericsson). The move is in response to the company’s refreshed business direction, and positions the company to deliver on its 2012 goals.
Mr Toru Shimizu, Managing Director, Sony Thai Co., Ltd., said that “Sony faced many challenges in 2011, both and in Thailand. In 2011, we managed to grow our businesses in many key product categories, while there is room for improvement in some areas. Our solid performance allowed us to achieve three consecutive years of growth, as well as secure 21 per cent market share.”
During a recent visit to Thailand, Mr Kazuo Hirai, Chief Executive Officer and President, Sony Corporation also expressed his confidence in Thailand, thanks to healthy growth and its status as a significant market in the region for Sony.
“In order to achieve Mr Hirai’s vision, we are working together to drive our business forward, under the ‘One Sony’ strategy. Sony Thai expects to grow 10 per cent in 2012, highlighting the company’s core values, which include strength in innovation within our product categories such as Bravia, Alpha, VAIO and Sony smartphones, as well as incomparable connectivity, allowing users to enjoy entertainment experiences across platforms and devices,” Mr Shimizu added.
In addition, Sony Thai will take over Sony Mobile Communications (formerly known as Sony Ericsson) from July 2012. The integration will benefit Sony’s overall business. “By managing Sony Mobile Communications, Sony Thai will be able to expand our opportunities, providing us with new revenue channels. By the same token, we will be able to fulfill our customers’ needs with unrivalled entertainment experiences and new marketing promotional activities through AV/IT products, mobile phones and smartphones, under the newly introduced ‘One Sony’ strategy,” Mr Shimizu concluded.
Referring to Sony’s latest innovations in 2012, Mr Pinyo Sanguansethakul, Senior Director, Consumer Sales Division, Sony Thai Co., Ltd., explained that, “Sony’s innovations have always been embraced by Thai customers. We achieved strong growth in many areas such as Bravia TVs (20 per cent growth), and while digital imaging products may have been impacted by the natural disasters in both Thailand and Japan, we have seen rapid growth for Interchangeable Lens Digital Cameras, so there is opportunity in the mirror-less camera segment. We are confident that we will achieve a solid turnaround this year as a result of a strong line up of 23 new Bravia TVs, a brand new VAIO Ultrabook, and 20 new Cyber-shot and HandyCam cameras.
Moreover, we are proud to be a main sponsor of the first FIFA Futsal match in Thailand, in addition to other world-class sporting events such as the Olympic Games and Euro Football championships, which will help drive the market for us. In terms of promotional activities, we plan to roll out ‘Sony Day 2012’, our much anticipated mid-year campaign.”
Sony Day 2012 is set to offer Sony customers exciting promotions, discounts and premiums, from 10 May — 1 July, 2012 at authorized dealers and Sony Stores nationwide. Offers include 10% discount for cash payment, 53 day and 53 Sony Xperia U Smartphones lucky draws, up to 65% discount on selected Home Entertainment systems, as well as 0% installment plans for 10 months with participating banks.
