Brass Explosion!, Asia’s biggest international brass music festival, returns for the third consecutive year with a big bang! Held from 1 to 4 June 2012, the annual music festival will showcase a myriad of exceptional musical talents, including jazz legend James Morrison, Stefan Dohr and Sarah Willis of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, S?rgio Carolino, James Gourlay, Darren Acosta, Steven Mead, Gareth Small, Bart van Lier and more.
Presented by The Brass Society at Marina Bay Sands Singapore and supported by the National Arts Council, Brass Explosion! 2012 will see more than 49 critically acclaimed artists from 15 countries, performing on a worldwide stage alongside 150 international and Singaporean students throughout the entire festival. They will also be joined and accompanied by the world-famous Desford Colliery Band from United Kingdom, an All Star Big Band as well as local music groups and ensembles.
“This year’s edition of Brass Explosion! is all about celebrating the joy of brass music by offering an accessible and exciting platform where people from all walks of life can come together to be part of this annual music extravanganza,” says David Smith, Director of The Brass Society, who relishes the festival’s role in developing Singapore to be a world-renowned centre of excellence in brass and jazz musicianship.
Set against the backdrop of the spectacular Marina Bay waterfront, this year’s iconic music event will also roll out a series of educational programmes at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore to ensure that every brass- playing child in Singapore has access to the best of the best in performance and pedagogy.
A well-celebrated and iconic annual global music event in Singapore, Brass Explosion! has been watched and enjoyed by over 10,000 people since its inauguration in 2010 with over 600 brass-playing students performing and showcasing their talents on this international performing stage.
