Hotel Muse Bangkok, the latest member to the MGallery collection of unique hotels recently announced the appointment of Alex Chakrabarti as General Manager. “As a person always looking for new challenges, I am excited to be part of a hotel I believe will revolutionise the hotel industry in Bangkok”.
Alex gained extensive experience in hospitality stretching through three different continents: Europe, Africa and Asia, a graduate from Newcastle University, he has accumulated over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Achievements began in 2003, where he was re-located to Sabana Resort, Phuket, Thailand as Operations Manager. In 2005, he was recruited to be part of the pre-opening team of the 245 rooms, Mercure Hotel in Pattaya in the capacity of Operations Manager.
In September 2006, Alex’s performance further continued to exceed expectation and as a result lead to his appointment as Operations Director of the highly successful King Power Entertainment where he oversaw the opening of ten restaurant outlets in Bangkok’s International airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport and the launch of a 600 covers restaurant located at the King Power Duty Free Complex.
Alex was then appointed Operations Director and Executive Assistant Manager of the Internationally acclaimed Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel, prior to his appointment with Beach Republic and the award winning Hotel G Beijing as General Manager.
As a decorated hospitality veteran, Alex was later hand-picked to drive occupancy at Mercure Hotel Pattaya in 2011. Through strong leadership skills, Alex was able to re-launch Mercure Hotel Pattaya as one of the leading hotels in the region, with occupancy levels boasting an average of 87% and total revenue increasing at 30%.
