LINE, the world’s leading free calling and messaging service, launched a new fun communication feature on Official Accounts on June 14, 2012. Users can become best friends with famous celebrities and communicate with them on LINE.
When users choose ‘Official Accounts’ in the ‘add friends’ section, hot celebrities and music and movie agencies such as GTH (LINE ID: #gthline), La Ong Fong (#laongfong), LOVEiS (#loveis), Opal Panisara (#opalpanisara), SINGULAR (#singular), Smallroom (#smallroom), Sqweez Animal (#sqweezanimal), Ter Chantavit (#terchantavit), 25Hours (#25hours), and Korean stars like CNBLUE (#cnblueth), FTISLAND(#ftislandth), Lee Min-ho(#leeminho), Miss A(#missa), Wonder Girls(#wondergirls), ZE:A(#zealineth), 2AM(#2amlineth) and 2PM(#2pmlineth), appear and are available for interactive communication. After adding them as friends, the users can see messages, pictures and even video and audio messages sent from artists about their daily life and other updates.
Users receive the stories of celebrities, and can also interact with them in ‘On Air Mode’. At chosen times, celebrities are able to read messages including emoji and stickers received from users and reply to the users — just like having real chats with their buddies. When users see the red ‘on’ sign next to the celebrities’ names, they can get involved in chats with their favourite stars.
This exciting communication feature was first officially launched in Japan and one of the famous artists, Becky, has over 1,190,000 friends (as of June, 13th), and currently is the most popular.
“Close communication with popular celebrities on LINE is the clearest example of the advantages and merits of LINE as a messenger service since it allows users to become close friends with their beloved celebrities and personally communicate with them.” said Lee Jin-woo , senior manager from LINE Business Office of NHN Corp. Lee also added that, “Beyond simple conversation, users can share fun and exciting content with stars who become their buddies. Fans can get the most entertaining communication experience using LINE.”
LINE will add more celebrities, including K-POP stars, and diverse entertaining features in the Official Accounts. Local celebrities are able to communicate with their fans in Thai and Korean stars plan to communicate in English.
Users are also able to choose to turn off the push notifications when they do not want to be disturbed during important times by the messages from the artists, just like other chat rooms. Also, on the 5th June 2012, LINE presented its 2.4.0 version with an upgraded User Interface and more exiting features such as a new shortcut that allows users to move between LINE Card and LINE Camera by using the [+] button in the chat room.
This feature is available on LINE 2.2.0 or higher version.
