Capitalising on its location amidst 15 acres of lush tropical gardens, the Garden Wing’s decoration incorporates environmental considerations. Solar panels provide heating for the Garden Wing’s water system while a water catchment facility helps to irrigate the gardens and prevent wastage of precious water. Electrical devices installed in all guestrooms, such as automated air conditioning sensors for the balcony door and the key card controlled lighting system, help to optimise energy consumption. “Our iconic Garden Wing has been endorsed by environmentalists around the world, such as the late Sir Edmund Hilary, since the 1990s. It is our commitment to uphold the legacy of this legendary wing by enhancing the Shangri La experience for our guests. I am confident that the Garden Wing will add a new dimension for our loyal patrons and their families who have stayed with us for decades and, at the same time, win the hearts of new guests. It will also redefine Singapore’s resort landscape, as the Garden Wing is the only urban resort located within the city centre,” said Manfred Weber, general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.
