Bangkok--18 Jul--VERVE Singapore writes history with the official opening of the 54 hectare “Bay South Garden,” which is an integral part of the eventual 101 hectare Gardens by the Bay, the biggest waterfront botanic garden situated right in the heart of Singapore. The new oasis gathers horticulture from all over the world and moves the garden city another step towards its “City in a Garden” vision. The Bay South Garden at Gardens by the Bay has officially opened to the public. Visitors are now able to experience its unique horticultural features and be amazed by this lively and vibrant garden that showcases the best of horticulture and garden artistry. Key highlights at the Bay South Garden include two conservatory biomes — the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest - that display plants and flowers from the climatic regions of the Mediterranean and Tropical Montane respectively; the 18 uniquely designed Supertrees varying in height of between 25 metres and 50 metres (9 to 16 storeys) that not only create a “wow” factor through the vertical display of tropical flower climbers, epiphytes and ferns but also further impress with lighting and project media at night; the Horticultural Themed Gardens that showcase the best of tropical horticulture and garden artistry in two collections of 10 gardens in total — Heritage Gardens and the World of Plants. At the Flower Dome, visitors can look forward to changing floral displays and a series of interpretive media and narratives that bring to life the story of plants. Completing the experience at the Bay South Garden will be a host of lifestyle offerings that include dining options ranging from all-inclusive family dining to high-end restaurant, as well as retail. Dr Kiat W. Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Gardens by the Bay, said, “We are delighted to be able to finally reveal Singapore’s newest national garden to everyone after more than five years of planning and construction. But beyond the ‘wow’ factor, Gardens by the Bay is a place in which families, friends and communities can take time out, relax and create new and lasting memories. Our mission is to create a distinctive People’s Garden that would be cherished and well patronized.” Gardens by the Bay is open daily from 5am to 2am.
