The Thai Select Award is a formal seal of approval for Thai cuisine, and is given by the Thai government after their representatives have dined at the restaurant unknown to the proprietors. The intention of the award is to identify those restaurants which offer authentic Thai cuisine in Thailand and other countries where the award is promoted. Two types of certificate - Thai Select and Thai Select Premium - are awarded for operators based on the level of quality as certified by the authority. For operators of traditional and modern Thai restaurants, those who receive 85 points or higher will be certified as Thai Select Premium, while those with 75-84 points will be certified Thai Select.
There are 816 restaurants in 24 countries that have received the award, with Ginger & Lime being the only recipient on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard.
