Samsung creates new sensation in photography with NX seriesWorld’s first compact system cameras with built-in Wi-Fi put company’s digital imaging business in good position to enjoy 15-20% growth this year
Samsung today sent a ripple of excitement to photography scene when the company launched the new NX series of world’s first compact system cameras with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity: the NX1000, NX210 and NX20. Fully packed with features enjoyed by pros and amateurs alike, the new cameras enable enthusiasts to share photos of their memorable time via social networks in an enhanced shoot-and-share trend that allows “Shoot Life In Perfect Details And Share Now”. The new series is tipped as a significant boost to help Samsung’s digital imaging business achieve 15-20% growth this year.
Mr. Ratchata Suttapattanon, Senior Manager of Digital Imaging Business at Thai Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., said: “The segment of compact system cameras (CSC) is on a rapid growth trend since more and more consumers have been attracted into this product category, in favor of the better image quality from a highly portable, nicely designed camera. The robust growth trend that continued in this segment recently led to a forecast that overall sales of CSCs will increase by 160% in terms of value and 143% in terms of units sold this year*.”
“At the same time, we are also witnessing the emergence of another strong trend in which people would capture and share photos on their social network to share those great moments instantly,” he continued. “And to stay abreast with these trends, Samsung, as the innovation leader in digital imaging, has created the world’s first CSCs with built-in Wi-Fi. The new cameras from our NX series ground on the development concept of “Shoot Life in Perfect Details and Share Now” to offer technologies of advanced digital camera that allow users to share their experiences with family and friends instantly. They are packed with features of a professional-level camera, including a 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor developed in-house by Samsung—the same sensor used in professional cameras to deliver quality images in rich color and detail even in large-sized outputs. Among many other professional-level features, a highlight of the system is the unique i-Function that let users control parameters using the lens itself to conveniently and quickly adjust the image without ever having to move off target.”
Samsung NX series addresses all lifestyle preferences of consumers with three cameras to choose from. The NX1000, available in stunning White, classic Black or eye-catching Pink, houses a feature-rich range of specs, including the Smart Link Hot Key that makes it simpler than ever to shoot and share great images instantly and the Smart Auto 2.0 to help users capture great images in an effortless style. The NX210 comes with a premium metallic finish and offers a 3.0” AMOLED display for viewing images and Full HD movies in brilliant resolution. The NX20 is the perfect match for enthusiast amateurs or professional photographers looking for a highly portable camera. With impressively fast shutter speed of 1/8000s, it stops the motion of fast-moving objects to deliver high-quality still images. The NX20 also incorporates a 3.0” clear AMOLED swivel display and an SVGA electronic viewfinder.
According to Mr. Ratchata, these CSCs are three new offerings from altogether 15 new models of cameras on slate to be launched by Samsung this year. The company has planned a 360-degree marketing communications campaign, integrating TVCs, online communications and public relations channels to ensure increased strength of the products. In addition, an emphasis will be placed on building consumer awareness of the new functionality offered by CSCs with built-in Wi-Fi capability by setting up Wi-Fi corners within more than 60 stores of Samsung dealers.
“Samsung is confident that the newly-launched Samsung NX cameras will be warmly embraced by consumers, just like other previous models from us. They will make strong contribution to the targeted sales growth of 15-20% we set for Samsung digital cameras this year,” he concluded.
Samsung NX Series is now available in retail at Samsung Shops and Samsung dealers nationwide at recommended retail prices of 21,990 baht for NX1000 (with 20-50mm kit lens), 27,990 baht for NX210 (with 18-55mm kit lens) and 34,990 baht for NX20 (with 18-55mm kit lens).
