AirAsia Carves Largest Ever Candle Plane to mark Vassa Candle Procession 2012 Ubon Ratchathani

Bangkok--8 Aug--AirAsia AirAsia, as the budget airline closest to the heart of the Thai people, is proud to have been invited to take part in transporting the Vassa Candle bestowed by His Majesty the King to the “Vassa Candle Procession 2012” in Ubon Ratchathani as well as publicizing the event by unveiling the largest ever candle carved into the shape of an AirAsia Airbus A320 and pointing out that all of its holiday flights will be fully booked. Mr.Tassapon Bijleveld, Thai AirAsia CEO, remarked that the Vassa Candle Procession 2012 in Ubon Ratchathani can be considered one of the Thai northeast’s most major annual events. As an expression of the region’s unity and faith, AirAsia, an avid support of Thai traditions, is thus proud to be a part in preserving the event. “This year, AirAsia has received the honor of transporting the Vassa Candle bestowed by His Majesty the King to serve its grand purpose. We have even made the event more special by creating the largest ever candle carved into the shape of an Airbus A320 using a special printing technique. The candle will be featured in the international Vassa Candle display. Moreover, 30 AirAsia employees from across the Kingdom will take part in the festival as traditional dancers” Mr Tassapon revealed. Mr.Tassapon added that the Vassa Candle Procession is Ubon Ratchathani’s grandest annual event and attracts large numbers of visitors. He noted that since AirAsia’s flights during the holiday are already almost to capacity, everyone should quickly book their seat to take part in the colorful event. AirAsia is sponsoring a number of Vassa Candle Festival 2012 activities in Ubon Ratchathani, including the transport of 9 candle carvers from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani. The 9 are master artists from Japan, Turkey, Germany, Argentina, Taiwan, Romania, Nepal, Ukraine and Thailand and will all take part in the international Vassa Candle display. Furthermore AirAsia is sponsoring the festival’s beauty pageant, providing rewards for the winner, her two runner ups and a Miss AirAsia.
