Unithai Group restores Mangrove Ecosystem on Earth Day to expand green areas and conserve the Environment, in line with Sustainable Business Practices and Community, Social, and Environmental Stewardship
Unithai Group, led by Unithai Container Terminal and its subsidiaries, organized "Mangrove Planting, Reviving the Sea" on April 25, 2025, at Bang Pu Recreation Center.
This initiative was part of an environmental campaign to commemorate Earth Day and reaffirm the Group's commitment to sustainable environmental stewardship.
Participants engaged in an immersive workshop on mangrove ecosystems, followed by a hands-on planting of mangrove trees, guided by experts from the Royal Thai Army's Bang Pu Recreation Center.
The mangrove reforestation project aims to enhance biodiversity and enrich marine resources by restoring mangrove forests to their full ecological function. These restored areas will serve as vital nurseries for coastal marine life in Thailand and help mitigate the impacts of future climate change on coastal regions. Additionally, mangrove forests act as natural carbon sinks and help increase the diversity of benthic (bottom-dwelling) species.
As a designated Ramsar Wetland Site, Bang Pu serves as a critical habitat for migratory waterbirds and marine life. This initiative highlights Unithai Group's role in fostering ecological resilience for future generations.
"Every Mangrove planted today roots a legacy of abundance for tomorrow."
