On 19 May 2025, Mr. Chuchatr Pramoolpol, Secretary-General of the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), presided over the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Life Insurance Leadership Program (ALIP) 2025, held at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao, Bangkok. This international leadership program was organized by the Office of Insurance Commission through the Advanced Insurance Institute, in collaboration with the Thai Life Assurance Association and the Life Insurance Fund. The program brought together more than 50 senior executives and representatives from life insurance regulators, professional associations, the life insurance business sector, and related organizations across ASEAN countries.
Held from 19 to 23 May 2025, the program aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange, enhance professional capacity, and co-design the future of life insurance in the region. Mr. Chuchatr Pramoolpol welcomed all participants and reiterated Thailand's vision to become a Center of Insurance Excellence. He emphasized the importance of developing knowledge, expanding networks, and fostering strong cooperation between regulators and the private sector across ASEAN. The training curriculum was designed to cover key dimensions of today's insurance landscape, including corporate management, organizational development, emerging risk preparedness, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) integration, and digital transformation. The program comprised four comprehensive modules addressing these key focus areas without compartmentalizing them into isolated topics. Throughout the five-day program, participants experienced a dynamic learning environment through lectures, group discussions, site visits to study Thailand's insurance and health systems, and cross-cultural exchanges among senior executives from various countries. The program emphasized that ALIP is not merely a training seminar, but a platform for cooperation and designing the future of life insurance in the ASEAN region.
Mr. Chuchatr Pramoolpol outlined the program's three strategic pillars: Reinforce - strengthening knowledge and capacity of insurance professionals; Connect - building networks between regulatory bodies, industry players, and associations; and Elevate - developing strategic collaborations to shape future policies, innovation, and development in the region. He further stated that the ALIP program is a key mechanism in positioning Thailand as a concrete Center of Insurance Excellence. As part of this strategy, the Advanced Insurance Institute is being developed into a regional hub for knowledge, research, and innovation in insurance. This includes curriculum development, setting professional standards, policy data compilation, and promoting technology and InsurTech startups.
" ALIP marks the beginning of a long-term, growing network of cooperation - one that will drive regional collaboration in policy development, human capital advancement, and innovation between regulators and the insurance industry for the benefit of ASEAN member countries and their people" Mr. Chuchatr Pramoolpol concluded.
