BCPG Invests in Solar and Battery Projects for Agricultural Cooperatives In Collaboration with Bangchak and the Cooperative Promotion Department

Bangchak Group continues its mission of supporting Thai cooperatives, which began in 1990 with the "Community Service Stations" or agricultural cooperative service stations, by extending into clean energy through the installation of solar power generation and energy storage systems via BCPG Public Company Limited.

With support from the Cooperative Promotion Department, Bangchak Group initiated the "Cooperative Network to Combat Global Warming" project in late 2024 to help reduce electricity costs and strengthen the role of cooperatives in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The program offers partner cooperatives opportunities to install solar power generation systems under leasing and Private Power Purchase Agreements (Private PPAs). Currently, 18 cooperatives have joined the project.

Most recently, BCPG has advanced this collaboration by investing in solar power systems with a total installed capacity of 2.12 megawatts, along with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) of 1.63 megawatt-hours, for five pilot cooperatives under the network. These include Muak Lek Dairy Farming Cooperative (Saraburi), Nakhon Pathom Dairy Cooperative (Nakhon Pathom), San Pa Tong Agricultural Cooperative (Chiang Mai), Phatthana Nikhom Dairy Cooperative (Lopburi), and Waritchaphum Dairy Cooperative (Sakon Nakhon). The project enables efficient and continuous use of electricity around the clock, lowering electricity costs, enhancing energy security, and strengthening competitiveness.

Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President, Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, said "This is another valuable opportunity for Bangchak Group to continue supporting cooperative development in the energy sector. Since the establishment of the Community Service Station project in 1990, there are now more than 600 cooperatives nationwide operating petrol stations in partnership with Bangchak. Today, the world is undergoing an energy transition. I would like to thank BCPG, a clean energy producer within Bangchak Group, for joining this mission to support and strengthen our cooperative partners, who are an important part of our business network, by enabling them to access and benefit from solar power generation systems. This initiative helps reduce costs, increase competitiveness, and protect the environment, contributing to the transition toward a low-carbon society in line with our BCP 316 NET plan to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Importantly, I would also like to thank the Cooperative Promotion Department for making this project possible, the five cooperatives for their trust in joining the program, and Bangchak's Marketing Business Group for its continuous support."

The signing ceremony for the Private PPAs with the five cooperatives was held with Mr. Charnvit Trangadisaikul, Senior Executive Vice President, Investment, BCPG, signing with the presidents of the five cooperatives, and witnessed by Mr. Wisit Srisuwan, Director-General of the Cooperative Promotion Department, Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, and Mr. Rawee Boonsinsuk, President and CEO of BCPG. The event was also attended by executives and personnel from the Cooperative Promotion Department, Bangchak Group, and representatives from the five cooperatives.

This pilot project of installing solar and battery storage for the five cooperatives reflects Bangchak's continued commitment to developing businesses and projects with Thai cooperatives - from cooperative service stations to initiatives such as supporting low-carbon agriculture with "Low Carbon Rice (Thai Rice NAMA)" offered to customers at Bangchak service stations, and the development of carbon credits from perennial plants under the "Plant D" project. Together, these efforts advance the path toward a low-carbon society and a sustainable future.
