Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) held its Board of Directors Meeting, chaired by Mr. Ampon Kittiampon, THAI’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, with the following results.
Operating Results for July 2012
The THAI Board of Directors acknowledged the Company’s operating performance for July 2012. There was an increase in the number of passengers carried, of which increased from 1.67 million in July 2011 to 1.74 million or a 4.2% increase in July 2012. Revenue Passenger—Kilometer (RPK) was 0.9% higher than the same month last year. Available Seat—Kilometer (ASK) decreased 2.4% in July 2012 compared to the same month in 2011, resulting in a higher cabin factor at an average of 79.8% in July 2012 as compared to the same month last year of 77.2%, with an increase in cabin factor on intercontinental flights that rose from 79.3% in July 2011 to 82.2% in July 2012, and the cabin factor on regional flights rose from 74.2% in July 2011 to 77.5% in July 2012.
For cargo and commercial mail, the world economic slowdown and European economic crisis resulted in a decrease in freight production and freight load factor during the month of July 2012. Freight production and freight load factor was 0.4% and 5.0% lower in July 2012 than the previous year, respectively. The average freight load factor was 52.6% in July 2012, which was lower when compared to 55.1% achieved during the same month last year.
