Fortifying cyber resilience: Dozens of features and innovations announced at Cohesity Catalyst 1

Strengthen your resilience posture with portfolio-wide features and updates supporting our five-step cyber resilience model.

Cohesity was founded to help you easily and cost-effectively manage all your datafrom a single platformso you can protect, secure, and derive insights from it. The Cohesity Data Cloud not only helps secure your data for a confident recovery, but it also unlocks your unstructured enterprise data for Gen AI.

Fortifying cyber resilience: Dozens of features and innovations announced at Cohesity Catalyst 1

Today at Cohesity Catalyst 1, we're announcing over 40 innovative updates to help you along your cyber resilience journey. Our five-step cyber resilience model provides actionable guidance for strengthening your resilience posture. Let's examine how updates across all five steps can help improve your cyber resilience.

1.Protect all data: Identify all unprotected workloads and protect them. We already protect over 1,000 workloads, and with rapidly accelerating data growth in the cloudthere's more to come.

  • Expanded coverage: We expect to add 40 new and enhanced connectors to DataProtect in the near termgiving organizations broader protection across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid workloads. From AWS, Azure, and GCP databases and storage services to enhanced support for Oracle, Postgres, IBM DB2, Nutanix, and Kubernetes platforms like Rancher and RHOVthe release is expected to extend coverage to some of the environments businesses rely on most. With this expanded reach, we anticipate that DataProtect can make safeguarding all your workloads simpler, faster, and more comprehensive.
  • Revolutionizing NetBackup: We're building deeper connections between NetBackup and Cohesity Data Cloud via NetBackup DirectIOa game-changing protocol for fast backups and restores. Anticipated soon, DirectIO will enable NetBackup to store data directly on SpanFS(R), the distributed file system powering Cohesity Data Cloud. After the protocol is available, NetBackup customers can keep everything they love about NetBackup, while enjoying the benefits of a future-proof platform. The platform is designed to scale out seamlessly, deliver better backup and restore performance, immutability, and open up the security and AI features of Cohesity Data Cloud for NetBackup. NetBackup DirectIO will cost up to 50% less compared to legacy storage systems.

2.Ensure data is always recoverable: The key to this step is based on the best practices of the "3-2-1 rule" for data protection. Having at least three copies of your data on two different types of media, with one copy stored off-site, strengthens the ability to recover data, regardless of the circumstances.

In 2022, we introduced our cloud-based cyber vault, Cohesity FortKnox, to help organizations maintain the best practices of the 3-2-1 rule while meeting the RTOs of modern business. We recently released a self-managed option for FortKnox to address the strict needs of some of our regulated and most security-sensitive customers. With a self-managed version of FortKnox, customers can enjoy benefits like:

  • A secure, virtual air-gapped vault behind your own firewalls in your data centers.
  • A hardened vaulting option for organizations that can't use cloud services due to internal compliance, data security, or audit policy restrictions.
  • Full control over their data while benefiting from Cohesity Data Cloud's unified management.
  • Minimize reliance on external storage providers.
  • Enable compliance with regulatory and sovereignty requirements in regions where local cloud services aren't available.

3.Detect and investigate threats:In this step, you proactively monitor your backups for anomalies and malware and reactively investigate indicators of compromise on your backups as part of the recovery process.

  • Last year, we delivered the industry's first hash-based scanning capability with NetBackup. Next, we're bringing that same breakthrough technology to Cohesity DataProtect. Hash-based scanning enables you to scan up to 30 billion files in just one minute. Faster scans mean you can scan more often and detect and mitigate issues sooner.
  • DataProtect has been added to Cohesity RedLabour isolated testing lab environment where our security innovations are hardened and tuned for improved malware catch rates.
  • Threat feeds update: Google Threat Intelligenceopens in a new tab is being added to DataProtect bundles to keep up with the latest threats and even better, it's included at no additional charge with Cohesity Data Cloud Enterprise Edition.

4.Practice application resilience:If you want to get better at something, you better practice. The same is true with cyber resilience. And that is what Step 4 is all about. Our cyber recovery orchestration tool, Cohesity RecoveryAgentis generally available.

RecoveryAgent is a powerful solution designed to simplify and accelerate disaster and cyber recovery operations. It uses agentic AI to enable organizations to create automated recovery blueprints that streamline workflows, reduce the risk of data loss, and ensure business continuity. With RecoveryAgent, teams can rapidly build, validate, and execute recovery plansproactively addressing threats, minimizing downtime, and demonstrating compliance.

We're also announcing a game-changing solution in partnership with Semperisa leader in identity security. Together, we're delivering Cohesity Identity Resilience, powered by Semperisa solution that enables enterprises to protect and recover Active Directory, reducing downtime up to 90%. With Cohesity's immutable, secure backups and Semperis' automated Active Directory Forest Recovery, organizations can prevent attacks with proactive assessment and hardening, restore AD to a clean, malware-free state with full post-breach forensics, and expand cyber resilience to one of the most vulnerable parts of their attack surface.

And we're not stopping there. Now, you can opt into our new proactive consulting offering to help you assess your resilience posture and close backup security gapsbefore attackers can exploit them. Through targeted assessments, our Cyber Resilience Consulting Services can help you benchmark your current maturity and develop a pragmatic, actionable roadmap covering the people, processes, and technology aspects.

5.Optimize data risk posture:In Step 5, you're proactively looking at sensitive data across your estate to detect and mitigate risks. That's where integrations with data security posture management (DSPM) vendors come into focus. Today we're announcing expanded product ties with Cyeraopens in a new tab, the market leader in DSPM. With this integration, you can:

  • Easily and continuously identify unprotected sensitive or regulated data via pre-defined compliance policies.
  • Prevent sensitive or regulated data from being restored to restricted locations.
  • Prioritize the restoration of mission critical data.
  • Accelerate incident response by understanding the blast radius of an attack.
  • Optimize costs for superior TCO.

Cohesity and Cyera are making a major step forward, together, in eliminating enterprise blind spots to reduce risk from data theft and enabling you to face cyber incidents with confidence.

Unlocking business value from your enterprise data

The same platform that delivers cyber resilience, Cohesity Data Cloud, also brings backups, cloud data, and application data into a single, indexed source of truth for extracting business value.

Cohesity Gaia, our conversational generative AI assistant, uses retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to unlock deeper insights from your data. And here we are also excited to announce new innovations, coming soon, to make Gaia more powerful, more useful, and more secure.

  • Search: We're adding a powerful search interface alongside Gaia's chat. We expect that the interface will make it easier for users to quickly scan, filter, and provide accurate and exhaustive list of matches. This search is invaluable for legal discovery, compliance and other use cases that require complete listing of matched data.
  • Multi-languages: Gaia will include multi-language support to empower global teams to search and chat with their enterprise data in the language they're most comfortable using.
  • Collaboration tools: Gaia will also soon be accessible in the collaboration tools you use every day, like Slack and Google Agentspace.
  • Data redaction: Gaia will also support built-in sensitive data redactionso personally identifiable information (PII), financial details, and other sensitive information won't be presented.
  • On-premises: Due to high demand from government, financial, and sovereign organizations, we've partnered closely with NVIDIA and our hardware partners to provide Gaia on-prem. This version of Gaia can be deployed and used without any outbound network connection, enabling your own "private GPT."

Cyber resilience is a journey

It's important to know that the journey to cyber resilience doesn't end and the journey toward AI is just beginning. At Cohesity, our mission is to protect, secure, and provide insights into the world's data. The new innovations are a testament to our commitment to delivering on that mission.

In the coming weeks, we'll continue to double-click into the innovations announced today at Catalyst 1. In the meantime, register here to watch the event.
