Bangkok--5 Sep--Kanokrat and Friends Four students of Stamford International University recently had the opportunity to interact with and learn from students and faculty at the number 1 hotel management school in Australasia. Huyen Minh Tran, Steven Kleeli, Lapatrada Kaewmungkhun and Chaiyachet Kochkosai, students studying hospitality management at Stamford International University’s Bangkok and Hua Hin campus, were part of hands-on training activities and explored various possible hospitality career paths as part of Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS)’s Career Focus Day programme. Fully sponsored by Stamford International University and BMIHMS, the four-day residential programme enabled the students to gain insight into the operations of various hotel departments and they were able to experience student-life at the BMIHMS’s Leura campus in Australia. “Visiting BMIHMS was an incredible experience to learn, hands on, each and every operational aspect of the hospitality industry; from the management side to front office. What I gained most was insight into the level of professionalism required to be a successful hotelier as well as getting an insight into what each department really does in the hotel,” said Huyen Minh Tran, a Hospitality student at Stamford International University. “This was an opportunity of a lifetime. I got to see what perfect service looks like. Believe it or not, you have to be taught to see with new eyes. BMIHMS was the ideal place to learn because the standards they set are so high. I learned that to be the best in the field, you must know every single step in the hospitality process and how to actually perform them so that you can lead by example— from top to bottom. We learned how to immediately recognize even the smallest details — even things like the way curtains in a hotel room are drawn,” said Steven Kleeli who studies at Stamford International University’s Bangkok campus. Both Stamford International University and BMIHMS are part of Laureate International Universities, the largest and fastest growing network of private universities in the world consisting of more than 60 universities in 29 countries. Internationalism is an important pillar that holds up institutions of the Laureate network. The partnership provides an opportunity for members such as Stamford International University and BMIHMS to share knowledge, best practices, academic talent and resources globally, making the ‘Laureate advantage’ a unique one. Stamford International University’s new dual award programme with Blue Mountain International Management School Australia (BMIHMS), offering a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Hotel Management, provides a global study perspective and hands-on training opportunity for students who are guided by some of the world’s leading hospitality experts. Students at the Bangkok campus study in international programme and graduate with a dual certification with Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School and have opportunities to study abroad in the final year of the programme to get a double business degree from both Stamford International University and the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School. At the Hua Hin campus, the program enjoys the oversight from foreign expertise and provides the Thai students also with higher level of English Language courses per term to increase their English Language proficiency. Enrolment in Stamford’s hospitality programmes is now open. For further information, please call +66(0)2 7694000. Information can also be obtained from Stamford’s website at http://www.stamford.edu/
