SSI has partnered with JFE Steel and received certification for "JGreeX" (Zero Emission) raw materials to produce "SSI Green Steel," a specially developed low-carbon hot-rolled steel product that reduces carbon emissions to only 31% of conventional levels. This initiative supports downstream industries and green building projects in achieving Thailand's Net Zero target.
Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited (SSI) continues to reinforce its leadership in sustainability within the steel industry. Mr. Nava Chantanasurakon, President, received a Certificate from Mr. Moriyoshi Hara, Vice President of JFE Steel Corporation, a leading global steel manufacturer, recognizing SSI as an official partner in the supply of "JGreeX" raw materials from JFE Steel. JGreeX is an innovative low-carbon steel solution that reduces greenhouse gas emissions in both Scope 1 (direct emissions) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from energy consumption) to Zero Emission status through a Mass Balance approach and is certified in accordance with internationally recognized standards.
Under this collaboration, SSI has utilized JGreeX raw materials to develop "SSI Green Steel," a specially developed low-carbon hot-rolled steel coil product that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions to only one-third of those associated with conventional steel products. This achievement supports the delivery of environmentally friendly hot-rolled steel products to customers in downstream industries seeking Green Steel solutions, as well as green building projects. It also demonstrates the strength of the Green Steel Supply Chain, supports sustainable business operations, and contributes to Thailand's transition toward carbon neutrality, while reaffirming the Company's commitment to sustainable growth.
