Bangkok--13 Sep--Silavadee Pool Spa Resort The exotic island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand is currently buzzing with the exciting news of Silavadee Pool Spa Resort recently welcoming back some very special guests. Almost 400 critically endangered Hawksbill Turtle eggs were successfully hatched at the Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center (MCRRC) in Chumphon province. by having 108 instinctively ready for their onward journey they were released into the sea this morning at Silavadee Pool Spa Resort, where they had been nested in May 2012. After the hotel had been alerted to the presence of the eggs, Silavadee Pool Spa and Resort’s General Manager Conor O’Leary coordinated with the Fisheries Management of Surat Thani province, who after an inspection along with the Managing Director of MCRRC, recovered more than 1,004 turtle eggs and transported most of them to MCRRC in Chumphon for their protection from predators during the incubation period. The event of this “Turtle Release” held by the resort has successfully achieved great attentions from local and national officials, press, community guests and hotel guests. The moment of the release has been beautifully engraved in the mind of the releasers, as we assist increasing sea turtle numbers in the Gulf of Thailand. We, the Silavadee Family, are honored to be a part of preserving this critically endangered species and hope that this will be a reoccurring event for years to come as we maintain the natural environment on our secret beach. The phenomenon of the endangered Green Sea Turtle and Hawksbill Turtle to lay their eggs at the beach near Silavadee Pool Spa Beach Resort is perhaps the greatest testament to the work and philosophy of this luxury resort with their “back to nature” concept and practices. Due to diligent work by the resort to preserve and blend in with surrounding nature, these rare Sea Turtles have given their stamp of approval and deemed the Laem Nan resort on Koh Samui a suitable nesting location once again. After hatching, more baby turtles will be released back into the sea at the resort beach where they were nested. As turtles usually return to lay their own eggs on the exact same beach where they first went into the water, the whole island has joined Silavadee Pool Spa Resort in hoping that this will now become a regular occurrence long into the future.
