On Thursday September 27, 2012, BarSu and Vanich Wattana invite you to chill-out in style as elegant bartenders uncork a selection of engaging wines from the Robertson Winery in South Africa. Each notable wine will be complemented by pass-around gourmet bites from BarSu’s open kitchen. Established in 1941, Robertson Winery is situated in the fertile Robertson Valley, 160 kilometers from Cape Town. The renowned winery is bordered by the Breede River to the south and the spectacular Langeberg Mountains to the north and blessed by microclimates and a variety of terroir that produce an exciting diversity of wine styles including outstanding Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. At the Robertson Winery accomplished cellar master Bowen Botha has inspired his team of winemakers to craft wines of exceptional quality and individuality. The many awards garnered include Syrah du Monde 2012 for the world’s best Syrah wine. Guests at BarSu will be welcomed with a refreshing glass of sparkling Tyrell’s Premium Brut, from Australia served with the chef’s amuse bouche, a trio of spicy tuna tartar, duck liver mousse with dried grape, and bay shrimp with miso mayo. The first wine of the evening will be Robertson Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2009. The full bodied wine displays powerful varietal flavors of bell pepper and green apple and will be paired with an enticing Swiss cheese and turkey Cordon Bleu with fig pur?e and mint mesclun. Guests will also enjoy the subtle creaminess of a gently oaked Robertson Winery Chardonnay 2009 served with cured ocean trout sesame bagels dill and beurre blanc foam, and the delicious ripe strawberry and juicy plum flavors of the easy drinking Robertson Winery Pinotage 2010 paired with a sweet corn flan and red beet crab bisque and a crispy crab stick. The second red of the evening, a smooth full-bodied Robertson Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 with rich mulberry and notes of plum will be perfectly matched with pan-seared sous vide beef fillet mignon, sweet garlic sauce and whipped rosemary potato in a crispy baby potato shell. The memorable evening of fine wines and tasty tapas will end with the Robertson Winery Gewuerztraminer 2011Citrus. Rich and smooth with beautifully balanced sugar and acid, and a honeysuckle aroma, the wine will complement an irresistible citrus cheesecake with candied Seville orange and ginger ice cream.
