Emerson Climate Technologies stages 1st Refrigeration Forum for Thai HVACR Community
Emerson Climate Technologies — the world’s leading provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions (HVACR) — engaged the local HVACR community and presented solutions to address the growing refrigeration technology requirements of retail establishments in Thailand. The 1st Refrigeration Technology Day with Emerson Climate Technologies seminar-forum where the company presented on topics covering the reduction of carbon footprint and technology options for the refrigeration industry in Thailand. The event also showcased the Emerson range of new innovations designed to conserve energy as well as have a lower impact on the environment as compared to other conventional technologies. It hosted close to 100 participants, including HVACR professionals, contractors, end-users, establishment owners and distinguished representatives of the Thailand Refrigeration Association.
“Emerson would like to take a leading position in terms of developing and implementing strategies towards resource sustainability, especially as it pertains to helping our retail establishments in Asia to improve on energy efficiency,” said Ashok Joshi, Emerson Climate Technologies Vice President for Asia Distribution Services.
“Since Emerson introduced scroll technology 25 years ago, the company has also produced compressors that are more reliable and thus, more efficient. This enables businesses to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs attributed to downtime, and ultimately, ensure business and environmental sustainability,” he concluded.
In June of the current year, Emerson produced its 100 millionth scroll — a milestone that underscores the company’s position as a leader both in scroll technology development and in manufacturing air-conditioning and refrigeration compressors.
Thailand focus
“Given the increasing number of groceries and hyper marts across the country, comes a growing need to control and reduce the carbon footprint caused by energy consumption,” explained Apichart Eueranukorn, the company’s country manager for Thailand and Indo-China. The executive also emphasized the need for continuous innovation to address mega trends like energy and the need to curtail the effects of global warming. Emerson Climate Technologies in Thailand has committed itself to the development of the local air-conditioning and refrigeration industries.
In view of significant investments undertaken by foreign and Thai companies to comply with environmental standards, Emerson products address the direct impact of refrigerants by utilizing those with low global warming potential (GWP). Meantime, the energy efficiency of Emerson products addresses the indirect environmental impact of CO2 emissions caused by energy consumption.
New innovation
On this occasion, Emerson introduced its new line of Copeland? Stream semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors. Stream compressors provide the industry with a portfolio of technologies: a range of 4 and 6 cylinder compressors for today’s most commonly found HFC refrigerants, a range of digital semi-hermetic compressors for simple continuous capacity modulation as well as a range designed for CO2 transcritical applications.
Stream compressors feature flexibility, having a choice among several refrigerants and demonstrate 10% better performance with R-404A. Through modulation, contractors and installers can also choose between inverter technology or digital modulation to reduce energy consumption and CO2-emissions. Stream compressors operate with up to 7 dBA less noise and are more efficient due to its improved DiscusTM valve technology, which delivers close to 15% energy cost reduction. The new line also features CoreSense? Diagnostics, an electronic module that provides advanced compressor protection and diagnostics benefits for improved system reliability.
Through its technology and initiatives, Emerson Climate Technologies actively engages the HVACR industry with innovations that conserve energy, thus taking a greater stride towards clean, sustainable living in Thailand and the rest of Asia.
