“Nino” (Philippines 2011), the third film of Cinema Diverse Series

Bangkok--28 Sep--Bangkok Art and Culture Centre “Nino” (Philippines 2011), the third film of Cinema Diverse Series Saturday 20 October 2012, 5.20 p.m. — 9 p.m. Auditorium, 5th floor Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and FilmS Forum present the third film of Cinema Diverse series; Nino (Philippines 2011). This is the first film of a director Loy Arcenas and the film has won awards and praise at many festivals around the world. Well-known actress Shamaine Centera Buencamin, won the Asian Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, at the Hongkong Film Festival. The story centres around the young child Nino, who dresses up as Santo Nino, the child-christ who the Filippinos believe, will bring miracles. He lives with a fading aristocratic family who have many secrets to hide, and who all wait desperately for a miracle to happen. After the film shown, there will be a Q&A session with the director about the film as well as to share experience between the content provider and consumer. Cinema Diverse is a programme showing films from various countries. Films selected have content regarding culture and society so with this selection, filmgoers can gain perspective and idea which is from a familiar environment. The next films are The Clay Bird (Bangladesh with English subtitle) on Saturday 17 November and Tears of the Black Tiger (Thai with English subtitle) on Saturday 15 December 2012.
