mercator to provide IT solutions required to grow THAI cargo operations
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) Executive Vice President of Human Resources & Compliance, Niruj Maneepun, and Head of mercator, Patrick Naef, today signed an agreement today that will enable the national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Thailand to manage its global cargo operations using mercator’s new generation cargo system, SkyChain. The airline has also engaged mercator for its leading cargo revenue accounting solution, RAPID Cargo, along with its ULD management solution, NOMAD.
THAI flies to 75 destinations worldwide, including 9 cargo destinations across 5 continents and handles over 400,000 tonnes of air cargo annually. SkyChain, to be implemented in April 2013, will bring THAI into an already impressive customer base for mercator which includes other leading airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Qantas, Virgin Atlantic, along with THAI’s fellow Star Alliance members - Singapore, Swiss and United Airlines.
“THAI is pleased to select SkyChain, which gives us the ability to more effectively integrate the management of our information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, handling and packaging processes in real-time. By streamlining our warehouse and administrative processes, we expect to eliminate paper processes and wastage from our operations, substantially impacting our bottom line. In turn, through our greater efficiencies and automated real time technologies, THAI Cargo will be better placed to deliver increased levels of service to our valued customers,” commented Niruj Maneepun, THAI Executive Vice President of Human Resources & Compliance, on the mercator partnership. “It is for these reasons, as well as mercator’s proven experience, that we chose them as our partner to help us achieve our current needs, plus our future cargo growth.”
Across the entire freight supply chain, mercator’s new-generation, open architecture platforms releases airlines from traditional legacy environments — giving them a newfound freedom to run their cargo business end-to-end at full capacity. The addition of THAI further solidifies mercator’s already strong presence in the Asian region, which includes a mercator Bangkok-based office with a team of 60 employees. The remaining team of mercator’s IT professionals is based at its global headquarters in Dubai.
“THAI is a known leader in the cargo realm and we look forward to a strong and mutually beneficial partnership with them,” said Patrick Naef, Head of mercator. “THAI’s decision to select mercator is testament to our ability to develop quality IT solutions that support an airline’s daily operations and future growth aspirations.”
About mercator:
Get passengers and cargo to their destinations—safely and on time. That’s the promise of every airline. Rising complexity puts the burden on technology to keep it. Which is where mercator comes in.
Every airline CEO knows that profits only follow when planes and processes really flow.
Our aviation heritage gives us unequalled insight into what this requires. In 1995, mercator was created to support Emirates Airline—and dnata soon after, the fourth largest airport services company in the world.
By delivering IT solutions for these major organizations, we became intimate with both the big picture and micro needs of the industry. Our team developed an extensive portfolio of solutions, testing them at the highest level in the real world.
Today, we offer these systems and the process knowledge of Emirates and dnata on the commercial market. Our solutions combine across five key areas of service excellence: Safety, Passenger, Cargo, CRM and Finance.
Our clients span the globe and include award-winning carriers, hybrid, low-cost and regional airlines. While aviation has always driven our technology, the variety of operations we serve has taken our industry expertise to another level.
Our IT infrastructure helps any airline reduce costs, streamline processes and increase productivity—enabling you to deliver your essential promise.
