Sukosol Hotels, Pattaya City, Pattaya People Media Group and the Thailand Guitar Society proudly present the fourth annual Pattaya Classical Guitar Festival & Competition on Saturday, October 27th at the Siam Bayshore, Pattaya.
The festival is the only event of its kind in Thailand, showcasing many of the world’s top guitar makers and musicians. The festival is open to the public, with collectors, players, music lovers, students and general enthusiasts strongly encouraged to attend. The festival is surely the biggest and most vibrant event for classical guitar aficionados and music lovers on the Eastern Seaboard. The festival boasts an impressive list of artists, luthiers and students from Japan, Germany, S.Korea, Britain, Indonesia, Switzerland, Italy, America, Philippines and Thailand.
This event will kick off with the adult and junior guitar competitions at 09:00hrs.; followed by a guitar exhibition at 13:00hrs.; Thailand Guitar Society student concert at 14:00hrs.; ‘Finest Young Thai Guitarists Concert’ starring Chinnawat Themkumkwun (winner of the Pattaya Classical Guitar Competition 2011) and Worrapat Yansupap (third prize winner at the Philippine International Guitar Competition 2012) at 15:30hrs.; ‘Master Concert’ with virtuoso stars Hitoshi Miyashita and Padej Nedpakdee at 16:30hrs. and ‘Ensemble Concert’ with Woratep Rattana-umpawan, Sakol Siripipattanakul, Tomonori Arai, Hitoshi Miyashita and the Wong-Kojorn Guitar Quartet at 18:00hrs. The day will then culminate with a spectacular ‘Guitar Night Concert’ at 20:00hrs., featuring the expert strumming of Leon Koudelak, Zul Kifly, Pongpat Pongpradit, Tomonori Arai, Santi Kaewjai, Alessio Monti, Monching Carpio and Paul Cesarczyk.
First prize in the adult competition is a concert guitar valued at $US4,500, made by the world renowned Indonesian luthier Hanief Palopo. Proceeds from the festival will go to the Father Ray Foundation, a non-profit organisation that takes care of 850 orphaned, abused and disadvantaged children and students with disabilities.
