The JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa and NA THALANG on 26 October 2012 hosted VIPs and members of the press to a preview of their Secret NA THALANG Dinner events, an exciting new dining occasion that will take place on one very special night each month for the next six months.
The Secret NA THALANG Dinner is a culinary journey back in time to the ‘slow’ food of southern Siam, to the cuisine enjoyed by Thao Thep Kasatri and Thao Sri Sunthon - the Heroines of the Battle of Thalang in 1785.
Offering guests the chance to experience authentic regional cuisine is something The JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa takes great pride in. The resort is hosting the Secret NA THALANG Dinner series in close cooperation with Phuket company NA THALANG Limited, whose founder & Chef Premchit Prateap Na Thalang uses secret recipes and artisanal preparation methods inherited from her ancestors to create her renowned Ancestral Rainforest Cuisine. Drawing on over 400 years of family tradition and heritage, Khun Premchit uses only fresh seasonal ingredients collected from her farm and foraged from the rainforests, beaches, seas and village markets of Phang-Nga and Phuket.
The Secret NA THALANG Dinner is an exquisite 12 course culinary affair of fresh juice, canap?s, wines, six main dishes, a palette-cleansing sorbet and two desserts served with a digestif. Khun Premchit’s husband Norman describes each menu item as it is served to the table.
JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa’s Executive Chef Dietmar Spitzer describes Khun Premchit’s Ancestral Rainforest Cuisine as: “The best Thai food I have eaten. All the ingredients are very carefully put together and you can feel with every bite that this is real Thai food how it should be.”
Following the 26 October press dinner at the resort’s Ginja Taste restaurant, there will be a Secret NA THALANG Dinner taking place on 31 October, 27 November and 18 December in 2012 and on 8 January, 26 February and 5 March in 2013. On each occasion the event is held at a different location within the resort, which is kept secret until just beforehand.
