Bangkok--14 Nov--Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa Koh Samui
Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa Koh Samui has been Green Globe re-certified for its sustainable operations and management.
Set on 11 acres of beachfront land next to the laid back haven of Fisherman’s Village on the north coast of Koh Samui, Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa Koh Samui is a boutique resort of 106 rooms, suites and villas, set amidst 3,100 square metres of lushly tropical greenery edging beautiful Bophut Bay.
Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa Koh Samui has integrated sustainable practices to ensure a minimal negative impact on the environment. Water consumption is minimised in all areas of the resort through the combined efforts of guests and associates, by implementing a number of initiatives. In terms of energy consumption, energy saving investments have been made and a reduction target has been set in line with Anantara Group requirements of at least 10% annually.
The resort combats pollution through reducing, reusing and recycling solid waste which impacts landfills, and by cooperating with a local waste management company. Sustainability also features in the hotel’s product purchasing, with a focus on products that are durable, repairable and able to be recycled.
“We are proud that our resort has been successfully re-certified. We are constantly reinforcing our commitment towards environmental conservation and the requirements of Green Globe standards, and always researching new methods or technologies to help us continue to reduce our eco-footprint. Whether it is as simple as watering our garden with recycled water or going a step further and changing plastic shampoo and soap bottles in every guest room to glass containers, we make every possible effort to protect the environment”, said Manish Jha, General Manager of the resort.
Green Globe is the global travel and tourism industry’s certification programme for sustainable tourism. Green Globe members save energy and water resources, reduce operational costs, positively contribute to local communities and their environment, and meet the high expectations of green leisure and business travellers.
