World-class ice dance sensation brings breathtaking performancesto Venetian Theatre
The much-loved tale of Swan Lake came alive Wednesday night at the Venetian Theatre, with a spectacular performance of Swan Lake on Ice delivered by its cast of championship ice skaters. Over 140 members of the international press from around the Asia Pacific region attended the much-anticipated premi?re at The Venetian? Macao-Resort-Hotel, part of Macao’s first-ever Winter in Venice extravaganza this Christmas season at the integrated resort.
Swan Lake on Ice is an award-winning production by the Moscow-based Imperial Ice Stars, one of the leading ice skating production companies in the world, and is on stage in Macao until December 1, 2012, exclusively at the luxurious Venetian Theatre. Wednesday’s debut show began after a violin performance in the foyer of the theatre by The Venetian Macao’s talented artists, offering the audience a delightful prelude to the beautiful and captivating performance that followed.
The combination of grace and athleticism displayed by the cast of ice skaters — which features former Olympic, World, European and National champions — was met by the rapturous applause of the audience, marking a successful beginning to the show’s 10-day run. The timeless love story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a beautiful woman transformed into a swan by an evil curse, was brought to life in front of the audience’s eyes, performed to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent and well-loved score, and set against lavish backdrops and scenery created by one of Australasia’s leading scenic designers, Eamon D'Arcy. The production’s world tour comes to The Venetian Macao with exhilarating new choreography, new effects and refined costumes.
Swan Lake on Ice is one of the major highlights of the Winter in Venice extravaganza at The Venetian Macao which, going on now until January 13, 2013. Visitors coming to the integrated resort this winter will find themselves in the most majestic winter wonderland Macao has ever seen, featuring the first and only synthetic ice rink on the Cotai Strip?, a brilliantly-lit outdoor Christmas tree and a nightly spectacular 3D light and sound show, “The Magic of The Seasons,” that takes spectators on an awe-inspiring and colourful visual journey.
