Bangkok--11 Dec--Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa Bangkok’s taste of the world restaurant Trader Vic’s, at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, is poised to delight connoisseurs with an exclusive Sandalford Wine Dinner on Thursday 13th December 2012. Sandalford Wines is one of the oldest and largest family owned winemakers in the acclaimed Margaret River region of Western Australia. Thanks to advanced viticultural practices and a progressive winemaking team, a long standing reputation for excellence has resulted in award winning wines, making Sandalford the perfect partner for Trader Vic’s connoisseur wine dinner. For the Sandalford Wine Dinner, guests will arrive at 7:00 pm for an elegant canap?s and wine pairing reception. Citrus infused tuna tartare with toasted sesame wafers is accompanied by the Charles Steiner, N.V., Brut, defined as a dry and crisp fine sparkling wine with refreshing citrus hints. A prawn wrap with wasabi mayonnaise is matched with the pale lemon Sandalford Element Chardonnay 2011, which has a clean, elegant nose of white stone fruit and is a well balanced light to medium bodied wine. While duck wontons with spiced plum chutney are joined by the highly revered Sandalford Element Shiraz Cabernet 2009, comprising a hue of plum and magenta, a nose of ripe blackberries with spicy undertones of anise and nutmeg, leading into perfectly smooth and ripened flavours. Dinner from 7:30 pm unfolds in a gourmet four course degustation menu of inspirational Trader Vic’s cuisine, enjoyed either in the Polynesian inspired dining room with the tropical garden and river views. Commence with an appetiser of avocado salad and taro sticks, alongside seared wild caught Japanese scallops and chili jam, served with the Sandalford Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2009. The colour of translucent lemon rind, with a nose of classic peach and flinty oak notes, the palate of this modern medium bodied Australian Chardonnay features ripe citrus flavours. After clearing the palate with a refreshing pineapple and ginger sorbet, dine on a homemade tortellini filled with twice cooked oxtail, accompanied by buttered spinach and porcini jus, paired with the Sandalford Estate Reserve Shiraz 2008. Dark cherry red with a hint of magenta, a nose of sweet mulberry and subtle spices leads into a sweet fruited medium bodied, velvety flavour of luscious dark berry fruits. The menu progresses with a succulent lamb rack with red currant pepper jus on saut?ed leek with thyme and garlic roasted potatoes, with a rich Sandalford Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2008. The same hue as the previous wine, but with a classic Margaret River nose of bay leaf, rosemary and sage savoury notes, underneath the primary violet and blackcurrant is a cedar-like vanillin oak nuance. This magnificent full bodied wine with silky tannins, dark briary fruit flavours and toasty oak elements has a long and persistent finish. Guests then succumb to a dessert of marinated goat cheese with rosemary and pear paste and French bread, rounded off with the Sandalford Founder’s Reserve Port which is characterised by a dark chocolate hue with hints of tawny and garnet, a nose of classic rancio with rich old dark fruitcake, as well as glove of cedar and mahogany, with a traditional sweet liqueur palate laced with dark briary fruits, spice and lighter leathery nuances.
