Bangkok--17 Jan--CMMU
On 5 January 2013, on behalf of the CMMU Alumni Association, Dr. Pannarat Kriengwatana, Vice President of the CMMU Alumni Association, and Ms. Pattranith Satachaisup, Deputy Head of Alumni Relations at CMMU, organized a one-day nine-temple merit pilgrimage in Samutprakan Province for CMMU Alumni Association members on the special occasion of New Year 2013.
Merit making is part of the practice of Buddhism in Thai society and one of the favorite ways of making merit in Thailand in order to celebrate and welcome the New Year is to visit nine holy temples in a day. Nine or “kao” is an auspicious number for Thais as its sounds similar to “kao na” in Thai which means “to step forward or to progress”. The pilgrimage of nine temples in Samutprakan Province in one day, organized by the CMMU Alumni Association, gave the CMMU alumni participants a good start and good luck for the new year which has just arrived.
