KASIKORNBANK announces 2012 net profit of Baht 35,260 Million

Bangkok--18 Jan--KASIKORNBANK Mr. Somkiat Sirichatchai, Senior Executive Vice President of KASIKORNBANK, said KBank and its subsidiaries reported net profit for the year of 2012 of Baht 35,260 Million. Operating profit before income tax expense totaled Baht 48,981 Million, a rise of Baht 8,837 Million or 22.01% over the previous year. Operating performance for the year of 2012 compared with 2011, KBank and its subsidiaries reported operating profit before income tax expense of Baht 48,981 Million, an increase of Baht 8,837 Million or 22.01% from 2011, due mostly to an increase in net interest income of Baht 7,090 Million or 12.55% resulting in a rising NIM stood at 3.58%. Meanwhile, non-interest income rose Baht 6,707 Million or 19.72% due to our efforts to satisfy the needs of customers, through expansion of sales and service channels as well as developing more stabilized IT system. The efficiency ratio stood at 45.00% which improved from the previous year. As of 31 December 2012, KBank and its subsidiaries’ total assets were Baht 2,077,442 Million, rising Baht 354,502 Million or 20.58% from the previous year, due mostly to increases in interbank and money market items-net, investments-net and loans. NPL Gross to total loans stood at 2.16% as of 31 December 2012, improving over the previous year which stood at 2.45%. However, KBank has provided allowance for doubtful accounts in response to the changing economic circumstances, both domestic and abroad. As of 31 December 2012, the coverage ratio stood at 131.83%. According to the Basel II Accord, the Bank’s Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) was 15.98% — with a Tier-1 Capital ratio of 10.43%. Meanwhile, KASIKORNBANK FINANCIAL CONGLOMERATE’s Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) was 15.64% — with a Tier-1 Capital ratio of 10.44%.
