Wattana Wittaya Academy along with the help of Wattana Wittaya Academy Parents and Teachers Association and the alumnus have get together to re-create the acclaimed English speaking production of “Beauty and The Beast”. This very production involves the lives of over 600 students, whom of which have been selected through a casting process and endure the intense training of both singing and acting. All of which is for the students to feel at ease in expressing themselves in English throughout the five shows starting on January 23rd - 25th taking place at Wattana.
Mr. Nukul Chanachompoo head of of opened up about the production revealing that every two years the school will host an English speaking play. And for this year WWA along with the PTA and the alumnus have decided on a production of “Beauty and The Beast” which is an internationally renowned classic animated feature of Walt Disney. In order for the students to portray their English proficiency and courage every show is done live whether it’s singing or acting. The school has invested in this production without considering the profit and chose the story that best suit the audience to provide both entertainment and knowledge.
Initially, the activity was reserved for students of Pratom 3 and 4 only. However, as of late there have been some adjustments made to the production in order to celebrate numerous occasions, such as Queen Sirikit’s 72nd Birthday. The school decided to produce a worldly renowned musical of “The Sound of Music” on WWA 130 Years Anniversary, which marked the beginning of a new era. The production involved over 1,000 students including male students from Bangkok Christian College School.
From then on, Wattana’s school production aimed to provide entertainment filled with quality since the starting process of casting, brainstorming, performance and the student’s motivation. We have been greatly supported by the school’s board and the producers.
Dr. wipawadee Chewaplaboon, Director of WWA, expressed that “Beauty and The Beast” has provided great challenge to both the performers and the production team musically. Furthermore, the students have to perform whilst singing and dancing. Throughout the casting process students who are interested to take part in this production are all given a chance to proof themselves, while the production team works on choosing students who possessed qualifications in all aspect of the performance whether it’d be singing or the English speaking skill. Over 600 students from both elementary and high school level are included in the show.
The audience will not be disappointed by the “Beauty and The Beast” production. “Beauty and The Beast” will consisted of five shows on January 23rd at 9.30 am and 1.00 pm, on January 24th at 9.30 am and 1.00 pm, and on January 25th at 7.00 pm. The shows will take place at Omai Meeting Room Ayada Kirinkul Building, Wattana Wittaya Academy, Sukhumvit Soi 19.
