Bangkok--4 Feb--Arc Worldwide This Chinese New Year, Siam Ocean World and Madame Tussauds celebrate “Year of the Snake”, exhibiting 10 species of snakes, along with “Jackie Chan” figure, all of which join in to be a part of the entertainment during the joyful Chinese New Year. In many cultures and beliefs, “snake” has long been related to human, such as in one of the Chinese beliefs, “Nee-Wa”, a goddess with a snake bottom part, is believed to be the ancestor of human race. In Christian belief, Satan impersonated himself as a snake to trick Adam and Eve, the first couple of human, into misbehaving in Eden, resulting in their expelling from heaven. In the multi-cultured India, snake is called “Naga”, an Indo-European name, which is the same with “King of Nagas”, a giant, half-god snake of the Aryan and Far Eastern. Also, “dragon” is believed by the Chinese to have come from a giant snake. Even in the medical field, snake is regarded as the symbol of international medicine: a cane, on which 2 snakes are intertwined. On the occasion of this “Year of the Snake”, Siam Ocean World welcomes the auspicious celebration by decorating the Rainforest Zone as to exhibit various species of snakes, including the Yellow anaconda, which can kill their preys by constriction, and causing asphyxiation, the California King Snake, which are able to tolerate the venomous snakes such as the rattle snakes, and eat them, the Corn Snake, which feed on rodents. Moreover, many kinds of pythons will also be introduced: the Green Three Python, the Boa Constrictor, a nonvenomous python, the Ball Python, a beautiful snake with solid markings ranging from greenish gold, and black, which is usually extremely docile, but if threatened, will take a defensive posture by curling itself up in a ball while hiding its head inside of the ball, as well as the Rainbow Boa, with the beautiful iridescent multicolored sheen of its scales when shown in sunlight.
