Bangkok’s Leading Hotels “Season’s Greetings Donation”Raises Baht 590,000 for CharityCheque Presentation Ceremony Held at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
Each year for the past 19 years during the season of goodwill, Bangkok’s leading hotels have turned their attention to the plight of children in need of care and support. The inspirational “Season’s Greetings Donation” program ensures that money normally spent sending Christmas cards to respected customers is donated to worthy projects. This year the fund-raising event was another outstanding success and the hotels managed to raise a grand total of Baht 590,000 for worthy causes.
On Friday January 18, 2013, representatives of the 19 participating hotels and the chosen charities gathered at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, for the “Cheque Presentation Ceremony”. Guests enjoyed a warm welcome and a speech by the renowned hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Richard Chapman. There were also speeches by sponsors of the fund-raising event, Bangkok 101 magazine, and Thailand’s leading English language newspapers, Bangkok Post and The Nation.
This year’s beneficiaries were the “Hands Across the Water Foundation”, a small yet effective charity providing children with a caring environment. The foundation was presented with a cheque for Baht 490,000 which will be used to support an HIV orphanage in Yasothon province for children who lost their parents to the virus or suffer from it themselves. The Bangkok Post Foundation which supports the education of needy students from primary school to university level nationwide, and The Nation University which offers scholarships to educate bright students from impoverished families, both received cheques for Baht 50,000.
