The Queen and Art Learning Center of Baan Silpagam Vichienket The Sukosol, Bangkok is proud to announce the arrival of the Vichienket Family Sculpture Exhibition 2013. The public showcase of amazing artworks will be held at the illustrious downtown hotel renowned for its love of the arts from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily in the City Gallery from Saturday, March 2 to Sunday, March 17. Thailand’s leading artist family presents 70 contemporary large and small scale bronze sculptures and paintings honouring the philosophy that unity and harmony are the means to achieving life-long peace. On show are works by celebrated Thai sculptor and National Artist Chamruang Vichienket, those of his wife and distinguished sculptress Saovapa, and his sons, Yanpol, a fellow sculptor, and Nithi and Nathee, both painters. Ajarn Chamruang displays a bronze casting of his award-winning piece titled Group, which was recently installed at the Bank of Thailand’s new wing. Saovapa presents her newest project, a sculpture of the Lord Buddha, in the graceful style of the Sukhothai period. She also carries forward her signature mother-child theme, with a piece titled Life Games, comparing the guidelines of mothering to the rules of a sporting game. The accomplished sculptor Yannapol Vichienket will reveal a humoristic side to his work, drawing on everyday household items. Nithi Vichienket, one of two painters in the celebrated family, joins the sculptors with a display of unique paintings using unusual combinations of colour to represent the idea of harmony. The exhibition will be officially opened by Minister of Culture H.E. Mr. Sontaya Kunplome and President of Silpakorn University Council Prof. Emeritus Khunying Khaisri Sri-Aroon, on Monday, March 4th, 6:30 p.m. at The Sukosol Bangkok’s the City Gallery This exhibition is free and open to the general public; with all works available for sale. Exhibition hours are from 10:00 to 20:00 daily. The City Gallery is located on the 2nd level of the Garden Pavilion, The Sukosol, Bangkok.
