Bangkok--4 Mar--Delivering Asia Communications Koh Samui is once again showing its credentials as one of Asia's top gourmet destinations with the launch of the 3rd Samui Fine Dining Festival on March 1, a two-month long event ending April 30 that will showcase a selection of the island's finest restaurants run by both global brands as well as a growing number of high-end boutique independent restaurants. Organised by the Cool Genie Group, the annual Samui Fine Dining Festival brings together hotels, resorts, private restaurants and suppliers to treat Koh Samui residents, international travellers and regional gourmands to a selection of specially prepared menus for the two month duration of the event. Participating restaurants this year include Banyan Tree, Beach Republic, Chef's Table, Dining on the Rocks, Le Jaroen, Nikki Beach, Ochos at AKARYN Samui Resort and Spa, Orgasmic, Rockpool, Sala Samui, Sui Kin Pan Asian Restaurant, The Barge Fine Dining, The Edge, The Five Islands Restaurant, The Terrace, Tree Tops and Zazen Restaurant. "It is a dining extravaganza with the participation of 18 top Samui restaurants and each restaurant offers a 6-course fine dining menu," said festival organiser Horst Hornung. "Consequently, every day, there are 18 options for a 6-course dinner at some of the most spectacular locations of the island." The two-month festival kicks off on March 1 with an opening Gala Dinner at the Banyan Tree featuring a menu paired with five different Champagne vintages, followed by another highlight on March 22 with a fine dining dinner at Nikki Beach with free flow Champagne courtesy of Lombard. "Diners get value, exclusivity and originality, as every evening the restaurants and an elite of international chefs present the best they have to offer," added Mr Hornung. "A menu consists of a cold starter, hot starter, fish course, sorbet, meat course and dessert. The menus are priced at THB2,800 to THB3,500. No extra costs for service charge and government tax.
