Bangkok--5 Mar--DC Consultants
Apple computer fans in Thailand and overseas visitors are now invited to pay tribute to one of the world’s legendary inventors and technology pioneers, as Madame Tussauds Bangkok announces a new wax figure of the late Steve Jobs which will be unveiled on March 19 at the popular attraction. To give fans a glimpse at what they could expect, Madame Tussauds today unveiled some photos of the Jobs wax figure in the process of being made.
Even more than a year after his death, the Apple genius is grabbing world headlines following the launch of the movie jOBS, a biographical movie about the famous businessman and inventor. The movie stars heartthrob Ashton Kutcher and opened to mixed reviews at the recent Sundance Film Festival. It will go on circuit later this year.
The co-founder of Apple Inc and the creative brains behind the iPod, iPhone and iPad will be portrayed in his trademark relaxed style, wearing a black cotton turtle neck, Levi 501 jeans and New Balance trainers. The pose, inspired by photographs taken at the shoot for his famous Fortune Magazine front cover in 2006, shows Jobs with arms casually folded in front of him, head tilted slightly with a warm smile. He will also be wearing replicas of his custom made Lunor spectacles.
Ironically, the techniques used to create the figure are almost technology free, using the same tools and methods first employed by Madame Tussaud herself over two hundred years ago. The first step is to create a perfect clay sculpture from which moulds are made for the wax to be poured into. The wax is then slowly and painstakingly coloured using layers of oil paint and hairs are individually inserted, strand by strand. All the work is done by hand by a dedicated team of sculptors and hair and colour artists who work for three months to achieve an amazingly accurate likeness.
