Bangkok--11 Mar--JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa Enjoying as it does a picturesque setting on Phuket's beautiful Mai Khao Beach, protecting the area's natural environment and serving the local community have always been important to JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. These are key elements of the resort's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program, a program which is now seeing increased attention and with plans to add more activities. Heading up the increased focus on CSR is Sean Panton in the newly created role of Director of Corporate Social Responsibility. Reporting directly to the general manager, Sean is responsible for the development of internal and external community and environmental programs and initiatives, which are designed to complement the resort's commitment to the Marriott International Sustainability plan of best global practices. JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa's existing CSR efforts include a heavy involvement with the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, which works to help the endangered leatherback turtles who nest on beautiful Mai Khao Beach where the luxury resort is located. This has included annual releases back into nature of rehabilitated turtles and fundraising. Now, with the foundation marking its 11th anniversary, a new turtle educational centre is being built onsite at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. The facility will encourage environmental educational to resort guests, Marriott associates and the local community in marine stewardship while increasing awareness of Phuket's endangered species. The centre will also be home to four injured adult turtles and feature a nursery area for baby turtles. JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa's increased CSR focus will also see CSR activities combined more with the resort's teambuilding programs, in which these will reflect more attention on protecting the environment and serving the local community. Many of the various teambuilding options on offer feature Phuket's stunning natural environment. A British national born in Malawi and having travelled extensively in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Caribbean and America before starting a career in hospitality, Sean has held spa, health and wellbeing and teambuilding positions at 5 star resorts in Macau, Mallorca and Thailand, including previous roles at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. Most recently he was CEO/Founder of SEEK Phuket, and outreach CSR project for Thanyapura Ltd which worked with the public and private sector to develop a Phuket Sustainability Plan. "This is a welcome return for me to JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa and one which I'm very excited about” said Sean. “Teambuilding and CSR are my passions and myself and the resort staff are eagerly looking forward to the increased benefits for the good of the environment and local community.” For more information or to make a booking, please contact [email protected] or the Bangkok Sales Office on +66 2207 9232 or +66 2207 9237 or visit www.jwmarriottphuketresort.com About JW Marriott JW Marriott is part of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio and consists of beautiful properties in gateway cities and distinctive resort locations around the world.
