“KEEEN” moves forward in the greenovative products of industrial ecological management for the ASEAN and GLOBAL region

Bangkok--12 Mar--The Way Communication KEEEN Limited, a leader in the greenovative products under the brand KEEEN, aims for sales this year to grow by at least 50%, thanks to increasing demand from the industrial sector. Mr. Watson Ariyaphuttarat, the Chief Industrial Ecologist at KEEEN Limited and Founder & Industry Pioneer of technology for industrial ecological management in Thailand, said the company has now developed a total of 13 products following extensive research in using oil-degrading microbes to digest petroleum oil molecules, marking KEEEN's leadership in the area of bioremediation agents or greenovative products. Products under the KEEEN brand mainly focused on Cleaning and Remediation all- in-one step, resulting in the capability to minimize waste and hidden costs from the industrial sector. They are used in various industries such as, the petrochemical (oil drilling rigs, oil refineries and gas stations), automotive, hospital, food, housing industries and so on.“About 10 years ago, KEEEN's innovation originated from an inspiration to resolve oil spill problem, which is one of difficult waste generated from the industrial sector. This led to research and development, starting from the selection of oil-degrading microbes to digest petroleum oil molecules, like as discovering a good sources of coffee beans. We then developed varieties of formula, like as using the coffee beans to create various flavours of coffee mixture,” said Mr. Watson. The project was collaborated between the company and government sector, the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and Faculty of Science in Mahidol University. KEEEN's products are therefore the key innovations in biotechnology, which are able to resolve or minimize environmental problems, emphasis in environmental-friendly production process in the industrial sector. KEEEN's bioremediation products are the one of alternative greenovation in digesting oil molecules, wastewater treatment, deodorizing out of leaving traces of chemicals, oil spill response and decontamination. Recently, KEEEN received a total of 9 international awards, such as the gold award at the International Invention Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2012 in Malaysia, the grand prize from the Asian Science Park Association (ASPA Award 2012) and the Best Innovation in Environment award at the SME THAILAND INNO AWARDS 2012. This year, the company plans to increase its customer base by expanding into the ASEAN market. It has currently set sales distributors in Thailand and other countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam and Cambodia. The company also has plans to jointly research with Finland's Biotechnology Institute to move forward in becoming a global brand, with markets expanding to Finland, Russia and other European countries. Mr. Watson said bioremediation products as the greenovative product are still in high demand in the domestic market due to the need to lower pollution and cost minimization caused by various industries. Over the past two years, the company achieved over 20% in sales growth, while sales this year is expected to grow to over 50% as a result of an expansion in the company's customer base. The company has 20 sales distributors in Thailand and is also seeking more potential partners, while the ASEAN market has a high growth potential, said Mr. Watson.
