New Cambridge Institute (Thailand) a world class language centre and leading overseas education consultancy launches the in-country pre sessional project with Birmingham City University.
Mr Bhongsakara Eiam-ong, Director of New Cambridge Institute (Thailand) disclosed information about the in country Pre Sessional “…This is the 2nd year that New Cambridge joins with Birmingham City to run a pre sessional course in Thailand. The objective is to prepare Thai students to have the right level of English before they even leave Thailand to further their Master’s degree in the UK. Meanwhile, the UK government announced the regulation for Visa application that the applicants should have a minimum 5.5 IELTS. For this reason, there were many Thai students who had to fly back to their home country before starting the Master’s degree programme because their English level did not meet the requirement of UKBA. For this reason, Birmingham City University initiated this project to conduct an English pre sessional class at New Cambridge at the 14th Fl, ZEN office @ Central World, the central location in Bangkok. Students will be taught by a teacher from Birmingham City University and teachers of New Cambridge, called “Birmingham City University Certified Teachers”.
The 4 distinctive points of our in country pre sessional courses are:
1. To improve the English language skills within a short period of time (8 weeks or 14 weeks)and help students to improve their IELTS score by 0.5 — 1.0 in an “English-speaking only” environment
2. To save cost of living 100,000 — 200,000 THB

4. If you successfully complete in country pre sessional, you do NOT need to take IELTS or TOEFL again.
There are 2 sessions for the academic calendar.
1. Course 14 weeks
Duration: 20 May — 23 August 2013
Tuition fee: 3,360 pounds
Hours/week: 25 hours
IELTS entry level: 4.5
Class Size: 10 — 18
2. Course 8 weeks
Duration: 1 July — 21 August 2013
Tuition fee: 1,920 pounds
Hours/week: 25 hours
IELTS entry level: 5.0
Class Size: 10 — 18
Placement test dates are 22 and 23 April 2013 at New Cambridge Institute (Thailand). All students need to do the placement test.
Mr Bhongsaka also said that there is a high demand for in country pre sessional course in 2013.
From the statistics, many Thais students are likely to go to study in the UK for their higher education.
If the students are well prepared in English, they will be much more successful in their studies since the students will be confident to speak and communicate with foreign lecturers and classmates. Finally, they will be able to enhance their English skills for future career.”
