Bangkok--19 Mar--World Vision Foundation of Thailand In commemoration of the “World TB Day”, World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) organises “Happy TB-Free Friday” activity to raise awareness on the prevention, detection and cures for tuberculosis (TB). The activity aims to inform the public that TB is curable if detected early, diagnosed correctly and medicated continuously. Learn more about how to curb the spread of this communicable disease through an exhibition and join the TB talk by Dr Yuthichai Kasetjaroen. Don’t miss free health check up by the medical team from Health Centre 21 Wat That Thong as well as mobile chest x-ray service from Bang Pai hospital. Also catch the performances by children from WVFT’s Jatujak project and meet the guest celebrities, Tae Sattawat Sethakorn and Anna Reese. WVFT joins the Stop TB Partnership Thailand together with government organisations such as the Bureau of TB, Department of Disease Control, Public Health Office Bangkok and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. About World Vision Foundation of Thailand Entrusted by the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, WVFT is the Principal Recipient (PR) from Global Fund to pursue the TB Reduction among Migrants (TB RAM) project together with other partners since 2007. Currently TB RAM operates in 14 districts across 6 provinces, namely Tak, Kanchanaburi, Chumphon, Ranong, Phang-Nga and Phuket. It has set up more than 200 health posts to service 271,495 migrant labourers. WVFT receives funding from Global Fund to pursue the Single Stream Funding (SSF) project, “Universal access to quality TB control & care in high risk groups & vulnerable populations and empowering communities in Thailand” in 2011. The project targets high risk population in 50 districts of Bangkok such as the 700,000 people from densely populated areas, 90,000 people working in the adult entertainment industry and 140,000 migrant labourers.
